Durch eine Whistleblower-Meldung erfuhren wir erstmals von Missständen im #TierparkDonnersberg und veröffentlichten im Januar 2023 Aufnahmen aus dem Privatzoo. Auch bei einem späteren Besuch durch eine PETA-Mitarbeiterin wurden Verhaltensstörungen dokumentiert, wie das Kopfverdrehen bei dem Kapuzineraffen hier und das stereotype Laufen bei der Zibetkatze und der Tayra. 😱 2024 beantragten wir bei der Kreisverwaltung Donnersbergkreis Akteneinsicht sowie Auskunft, die aber nur teilweise beantwortet wurden. Fragen zu den Gehegegrößen und der Einhaltung der Vorgaben gemäß „Säugetiergutachten“ blieben dabei ebenso unbeantwortet wie detaillierte Angaben zu den bei der Behörde eingegangenen Tierschutzmeldungen, den durchgeführten Kontrollen und dabei erteilten Auflagen. Mitgeteilt wurde aber beispielsweise, dass von 2016 bis 2023 22 Kontrollen stattfanden, bei denen Gehegegrößen, schwankende Temperaturen und fehlende Rückzugsorte und Beschäftigungsmöglichkeiten für die Tiere beanstandet wurden. 🙃 Ende April 2025 haben wir Klage gegen den Kreis beim Verwaltungsgericht Neustadt eingereicht, um die fehlenden Informationen zu erhalten. Und wir fragen uns: Sehen sie dort nicht das Gleiche wie wir? Bemerken sie nicht den auf- und ablaufenden Leoparden, die an den Gitterstäben nagenden Stachelschweine, die verstümmelten Flügel der Störche und die winzigen Gehege der eingesperrten Schimpansen? Oder sind diese Beobachtungen für sie schlicht Normalität? 🤔 Und warum scheinen manche Kinder mehr Durchblick zu haben als ihre Eltern? „Der will hier raus“ – ist eine logische und empathische erste Schlussfolgerung, wenn jemand wiederholt an den Gitterstäben seines Gefängnisses nagt. Aber auch nach längerer Beobachtung ergibt diese These Sinn: Im Zoo Arche Noah gibt es nur ein Stachelschweinaußengehege, in das die Tiere abwechselnd in zwei verschiedenen Gruppenkonstellationen gelassen werden. Bei der Gruppe im kleinen Innengehege (4-6 m2) beobachteten wir jeweils mind. ein Tier, das an den Gitterstäben nagte, am Tor zum Außengehege kratzte und auf- und ablief. 😥 Wir haben wegen der beobachteten Missstände beim zuständigen Veterinäramt Anzeige erstattet. Orca in Captivity 😭 According to the @bornfreefoundation , more than 2,100 dolphins and whales are being held in captivity at 343 facilities in 63 countries around the world, the majority in Japan, China, the USA, Russia and Mexico. 😭 The Chimelong Theme Park located in Zhuhai, China - designed to appear like a giant spaceship - has softly launched its offerings and attractions. However, while the indoor theme park recently became the recipient of an unprecedented seven Guinness World Records, boasting the world’s most extensive wave pool, the attraction has upset animal rights, because of the main tank becoming home to show performing orcas/killer whales. Orcas live in family units, and they have sophisticated social structures. Orcas are curious and playful animals. In the wild, they swim up to 160km per day, forage freely and establish lasting bonds with their mothers, siblings and other members of their close-knit communities, with whom they usually remain for life. The @project.orca.worldwide has long objected to the practice of whale captivity and breeding, arguing that captive orcas generally have a shorter lifespan than their wild counterparts and that many whales are driven mad while in captivity.
