Looks innocent, almost pointless, right? But what this moment actually shows is one of the film’s deepest ideas: choice versus fate. Neo thinks he’s waiting for a prophecy to tell him who he is. He wants certainty, a clear path. But the Oracle nudges him to make his own choices, even in something as trivial as taking candy. She’s saying: “Stop waiting for someone to tell you who you are. You become who you are through your choices.” The candy is a metaphor. It’s simple, everyday, and easily overlooked, but it reminds us that power isn’t in knowing the future, it’s in choosing your response to the present. The Oracle doesn’t make Neo the One.
