✨ The #1 Accommodation for Kids, Tweens & Teens with ADHDLet’s get one thing straight: accommodations are not solutions. They’re only one piece of the puzzle when it comes to helping your child thrive at school.Yes, accommodations can support them—but they don’t teach skills.⏳ Extra time doesn’t teach time management.📍 Preferential seating doesn’t teach focus. So what’s the #1 accommodation that actually makes a difference?👉 Specific, positive feedback.Because here’s the truth: you can give all the extra time and special seating in the world, but if your child doesn’t feel good about themselves, those accommodations become useless.🌟 Confidence is the foundation. When kids believe they can succeed, they start building the skills to do it.That’s why in my ADHD Parenting Bootcamp, I don’t just give you a generic list of supports.I give you a targeted list of accommodations that: • ✅ Build real executive function skills • ✅ Boost your child’s confidence and self-esteem • ✅ Create lasting success beyond the classroom💬 DM me BOOTCAMP to get started—because your child deserves support that actually changes their future.

when I was in one of the worst autistic burnouts of my life 5 years ago, honestly the only way I got out of it was majorly changing my daily routine and finding these accommodations over the years (plus having the privilege to be able to do so)! 👋 what are some accommodations that changed your life, friends? 💭 #autisticadults #actuallyautistic #audhd #accommodations #audhder

I am so glad to partner with @fly2ohare and share my experience as an autistic person flying out of O’Hare International Airport in Chicago. I specifically want to highlight the sensory POV videos, the sensory maps, and the sensory bags. I could tell that these accommodations were designed with an understanding of autism and our specific needs. They allowed me to feel confident in my abilities to navigate the airport and get onto my flight with minimal stress. I appreciate the ways that O’Hare implements accommodations for autistic people and I hope that these types of accommodations become the standard everywhere. If you’re flying through O’Hare soon, it’s definitely worth checking out their accessibility offerings at flychicago.com/Sensory. #ad #actuallyautistic #autismaccommodations

Burnout isn’t a resilience problem. It’s a design problem. Most “accommodations” don’t touch the real drain. These five do. Written instructions. Fewer meetings. Clear expectations. Time to process. Feedback without personality critique. That’s not special treatment. That’s how ND people stay functional. If this hit a nerve, the Work Playbook goes deeper. No hype. No fixing yourself. Most autistic burnout at work isn’t because of workload. It’s about unaccommodated nervous systems. Four accommodations I commonly prescribe for autistic adults to thrive in work environments ⤵️ 1️⃣ Reduced social load, not reduced responsibility Fewer meetings. Clear agendas. Asynchronous communication. -Cognitive capacity is preserved when constant social decoding isn’t required. 2️⃣ Control over sensory input Lighting, sound, seating, temperature, headphones, camera-off policies. - Regulation precedes productivity — always. 3️⃣ Predictable task expectations Explicit priorities. Written instructions. Defined “done.” - Ambiguity drains autistic energy faster than effort ever will. 4️⃣ Flexible pacing and recovery time Modified schedules, protected breaks, realistic turnaround times. -Burnout isn’t prevented by pushing harder — it’s prevented by respecting limits. If your workplace burnout feels confusing, chronic, or “out of proportion,” it’s likely structural not personal. 📖 Read: Why Autistic Adults Burn Out at Work 🧰 & Get the Workplace Thrive Kit (practical accommodations you haven’t been offered and how to request them). Comment Stack and I’ll send the Link right over! Also share any accommodations that have been helpful for you. #autisticadults #autism #autismburnout #accommodations #autisticwomen

Just last night, I somehow ended up on the wrong side of the algorithm and came across a school psychologist’s Instagram account dedicated to… are you ready for this? Mocking parents and clinicians who request accommodations and IEP supports — treating advocacy like a joke, a nuisance, or a scam. And what shocked me most wasn’t even the account itself. It was the comments. Special ed/EC teachers. School administrators. Rolling-eye emojis. Callous, dismissive commentary egging her on. And suddenly, something clicked. Because a couple years ago, I was accidentally copied on an internal email thread between EC professionals and school administrators at my child’s school. The language still makes my stomach turn. They talked about: • “setting me off” • “avoiding a legal fuss” • and how to strategically explain taking away my child’s recess — something they legally could not do Not how to support my kid. Not how to meet access needs. Not how to reduce dysregulation. How to manage me. And here’s the part that matters: This isn’t about villainizing teachers. Teachers are underpaid. Overworked. Carrying impossible caseloads in a system that keeps demanding more while offering less. I get it. I really do. And I don’t fault individual educators for the position they’re in. But systems under pressure don’t magically become humane. They become defensive. They protect themselves first. And that’s where ASD Level 1 kids — especially the ones who look “fine” on paper — fall through the cracks. Or worse. So if you’re parenting a so-called “high-functioning” neurodivergent kid, you need to know how to navigate this system before it works against you. That’s why I’m building a practical resource for parents of ASD Level 1 kids — something that explains your rights, the process, and how to advocate effectively without burning yourself out or being labeled “difficult.” I’m sharing more about it — along with deeper context, real stories, and helpful resources — in my weekly email newsletter. No spam. No pressure. Just honest information and support as I build this out. If you want to be in the loop, the best place is my email list. Link’s in bio. ❤️

⭐️⭐️ School accommodations for ADHD!! ⭐️⭐️ ▶️ This info is adapted from the website Understood.org. They have great resources! ▶️ If your child has ADHD, there are accommodations/changes that you can request for your child in his or her classroom, to help with academic success. ▶️ Work with your child’s physician to determine which accommodations will be most helpful. ▶️ The special education director at your child’s school can help to develop a 504 plan, which puts these changes in writing and ensures that all of your child’s teachers know how to help your child. Not sure who can help at your child’s school? Ask your child’s teacher or principal for help getting a 504 plan. ▶️ If you’re in KS or MO and want ADHD help for your child, check out my website! t’s always interesting when people ask why parents of disabled learners come into meetings guarded, skeptical, or ready to advocate hard. Because many of us have watched educators online openly complain about teaching disabled students. Complaining about IEPs. Complaining about accommodations. Complaining about “behaviors.” Complaining about having “too many needs in one classroom.” And then the same system asks parents to trust that their learner will be supported. Trust isn’t built through compliance. Trust is built through respect. When disabled learners are spoken about like a burden, families hear it. When educators frame supports as inconveniences, families remember it. So no, parents aren’t “too defensive.” They’re responding to a system that too often tells them their learner is the problem. Disabled learners deserve educators who see support as part of the job, not an exception to it. #NeuroaffirmingEducation #IEPAdvocate #DisabilityJustice #SpecialEducation #Neurodiversity
