ABThere is a growing need for shelter services.
Did you know that women’s shelters across Alberta provided services to more than 50 000 individuals last year?
I read through the 2023/2024 Shelter Impact Report and the most shocking fact for me was that 40% of people who could not be sheltered were children. That hit home. Hard!
Our communities need our help!
How can you help?
1. Build welcome kits, just like I did here. These kits provide comfort to survivors and help them transition into shelters.
2. Give monetary donations.
3. Educate, educate, educate! Head to acws.ca to learn more.
Delivering the kits and having conversations with my children was an eye opening experience for me. They were excited to help people and we are already planning on how we can help again.
Let’s do our part!

PIDid you know that filler doesn’t always dissolve? Over time, it can expand under the skin, leading to migration, edema, and an inflated appearance that becomes harder to manage. This image, courtesy of Dr. Parsa, a Beverly Hills Oculoplastic surgeon, shows MRI imaging of 12 syringes of filler that was been placed over a six year period. The filler is not only still there but has more than doubled in size!
What You Need to Know:
Migration: Filler can move from the original injection site, causing uneven and undesirable results.
Edema: Swelling and fluid retention can occur, leading to a puffy, unnatural look.
Inflated Appearance: When filler expands, it can double in size, resulting in an overfilled appearance that is difficult to correct.
Example: Imagine what happens when 12 syringes of filler doubles in size—you’re left with an unexpected and inflated look that’s challenging to dissolve and manage over time.

SEI was honoured to send greetings for the Alberta Council of Women's Shelters (ACWS) Innovations Conference this week. I'm so grateful for the work these shelters do to not only keep vulnerable Albertans safe, but to help them in their healing journey.
I hope the conference provided opportunity to come together and find new ways to create a safer Alberta for all.

In the past year alone, more than 31,000 people couldn’t access shelter. 40% of them were children. For every one child who finds safety, four more are left without.
