DRBleach baths to settle eczema might sound strange but they work! The skin in eczema becomes overrun with a type of bacteria called Staphylococcus aureus. This diminishes the skin barrier, resulting in inflammation and itch.
Using dilute bleach baths, knocks these bacteria and settles eczema flares. How do you do it safely?
Add four capfuls of Milton (active ingredient sodium hypochlorite) to a half full adult bath with lukewarm water, soak 5 to 7 minutes, rinse off, then use your emollients.
I know it sounds wild, but you’ve already been in a bleach bath if we’ve ever been in a swimming pool. They’re both types of dilute chlorine baths.
Is it weird? Yes. But is it evidence-based and dermatologist approved? Also yes.
