In a first for India, All India Institute of Medical Sciences Delhi has launched a major study to decode a growing health threat. Can air pollution cause lung cancer—even in non-smokers? The study, called AIRCARE, will examine how prolonged exposure to PM2.5 impacts cancer risk. Experts say lung cancer cases are rising among non-smokers—especially women and young adults. #AirPollution #LungCancerAwareness #AIIMSDelhi #HealthResearch #IndiaHealth #AIIMSDelhi2026 #HealthupdatesIndia #Indiahealthnews #AIIMSstudy #Healthstudy #Lungcancer

#newsupdate : AIIMS Doctor Highlights Unique Study on Air Pollution and Cancer Dr. Abhishek Shankar from (AIIMS) spoke about the Air Care Study focusing on air pollution and its link to lung cancer. He described the research as a unique global initiative aimed at understanding how different components of air pollution contribute to cancer risk. The study seeks to analyze the impact of various AQI factors on human health. According to him, it has multiple objectives and has not been conducted anywhere else in the world. The findings are expected to provide crucial insights into preventing pollution-related lung cancer. #aiims #cancer #reelviral #doctor

The air quality in Delhi often reaches dangerous levels, especially during winter months. Thick smog covers the city, visibility drops, and millions of people are forced to breathe polluted air every single day. According to health research and data shared by World Health Organization, long-term exposure to polluted air can lead to asthma, lung damage, heart disease, and other serious health problems. Children and elderly people are the most vulnerable. This pollution doesn’t come from just one source. Vehicle emissions, construction dust, industrial pollution, waste burning, and seasonal crop burning all combine to create a serious environmental crisis. But the biggest question is: Why has this become normal? Clean air should be a basic right, not a luxury. Authorities and policymakers need to take stronger action: • Stricter emission rules • Better public transport systems • Control on construction dust • Real solutions for crop residue burning People can also contribute by using public transport, reducing unnecessary vehicle use, and supporting environmental policies. Because the truth is simple: If we stay silent today, the next generation will grow up breathing poison. 📢 This is not just a problem of one city — it’s a wake-up call. #DelhiPollution #CleanAirNow #IndiaEnvironment #AirQualityCrisis #SaveDelhi PublicHealth EnvironmentalAwareness SpeakUp CityProblems RaiseYourVoice

Delhi AQI (Air Quality Index) refers to the measurement used to show how polluted the air in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) is and how it may affect human health. The Air Quality Index is a numerical scale that indicates the concentration of harmful pollutants in the air; the higher the AQI value, the more polluted the air and the greater the health risk for people living in that area. In Delhi, AQI is monitored by environmental agencies such as the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) using multiple monitoring stations across the city. These stations measure pollutants like PM2.5, PM10, nitrogen dioxide (NO₂), sulfur dioxide (SO₂), carbon monoxide (CO), and ozone (O₃). Based on these pollutant levels, the AQI is categorized into ranges such as Good (0-50), Satisfactory (51-100), Moderate (101-200), Poor (201-300), Very Poor (301-400), and Severe (401-500). Higher categories indicate increasing health risks, especially for children, elderly people, and those with respiratory problems. Delhi frequently experiences high AQI levels, especially during the winter months, when weather conditions like low wind speed, temperature inversion, and fog trap pollutants close to the ground. In addition to weather conditions, major sources of pollution include vehicular emissions, industrial pollution, construction dust, burning of crop residue (stubble burning) in nearby states such as Punjab and Haryana, and firecrackers during festivals. These factors combine to create a thick layer of smog over the city, often pushing the AQI into the "very poor" or "severe" category. High AQI levels in Delhi have significant environmental and health impacts. Poor air quality can lead to respiratory diseases, asthma, lung infections, heart problems, and reduced visibility due to smog. Long-term exposure to polluted air is also linked to reduced life expectancy and serious health complications. Because of these risks, authorities sometimes implement emergency measures such as restricting construction, controlling traffic, and closing schools during severe pollution episodes. #memes #viralreels #doctor #explore #fypppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp

The Air Quality Index (AQI) of Delhi refers to the measurement of air pollution levels in Delhi, one of the most populated cities in the world. AQI is a numerical scale used to indicate how clean or polluted the air is and what health effects might be associated with it. In India, AQI is monitored and reported by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) under the National Air Quality Monitoring Programme. Delhi’s AQI often reaches very high and hazardous levels, especially during the winter months (October to January). The main reasons for poor air quality include vehicle emissions, industrial pollution, construction dust, burning of crop stubble in nearby states like Punjab and Haryana, firecrackers during festivals, and unfavorable weather conditions that trap pollutants close to the ground. The AQI scale in India is divided into six categories: 0–50 (Good) – Minimal impact 51–100 (Satisfactory) – Minor breathing discomfort to sensitive people 101–200 (Moderate) – Breathing discomfort to people with lung diseases 201–300 (Poor) – Discomfort to most people on prolonged exposure 301–400 (Very Poor) – Respiratory illness on prolonged exposure 401–500 (Severe) – Affects healthy people and seriously impacts those with existing diseases In many winters, Delhi’s AQI crosses 400 and sometimes even touches 500, which falls under the “Severe” category. Major pollutants include PM2.5 (fine particulate matter), PM10, nitrogen dioxide (NO₂), sulfur dioxide (SO₂), carbon monoxide (CO), and ozone (O₃). Among these, PM2.5 is considered the most dangerous because its tiny particles can enter deep into the lungs and bloodstream. The government has introduced measures such as the Odd-Even traffic rule, promotion of electric vehicles, restrictions on construction activities, and the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) to control pollution levels. Despite these efforts, controlling air pollution in Delhi remains a major environmental and public health challenge.

Why Young Non-Smokers in India Are Getting Lung Cancer. Lung cancer isn’t just a smoker’s disease anymore. In cities like Lucknow, rising cases among young non-smokers are linked to toxic air — PM2.5, dust, vehicle smoke, and constant pollution exposure. Even without cigarettes, polluted air damages lung cells daily, leading to cancers that doctors are now seeing more often in younger patients. . . #lungcancer #healthfacts #pollution #delhi #india

Did you know that many of the world’s most polluted cities are in India? In this reel, we break down what AQI actually means and why scientists focus more on PM2.5, the tiny pollution particles that are considered one of the most dangerous for human health. These microscopic particles are so small that they can enter the lungs and even the bloodstream. According to the World Health Organization, the safe level of PM2.5 in the air should be around 0–5 µg/m³, but cities like New Delhi and Byrnihat often report levels many times higher. High exposure to PM2.5 is linked to serious health problems like stroke, heart disease, lung disease, and even cancer. This reel explains the numbers behind air pollution and why clean air is becoming one of the biggest public health challenges today. #AirPollution #PM2.5 #IndiaPollution #AirQuality #PollutedCities
