FUThe tragic red flag that started it all was my daughter’s transformation from a curious, bright-eyed learner into an apathetic, bored shell of herself.
Within just one year of school, her love of learning and natural curiosity had started to fade because her school didn’t make room for her to pursue learning about things she found interesting or give her opportunities to explore. And that’s how Alpha School was born! I created something that I knew would foster her love of learning and it has since snowballed into what it is today.
👉🏼 Other red flags that I commonly see in kids who are not well served by traditional school:
🚩 They don’t want to go to school or they consistently come home in a bad mood
🚩 They aren’t absorbing or retaining what they’re being taught (or they’re flying way ahead of their peers)
🚩 They complain about their teacher and feel unheard or unsupported
🚩 They aren’t gaining real-world skills they will actually use later in life
🚩 They are struggling socially and receive little to no guidance or support
🚩 Values and ideology are being pushed at school instead of left to parents
If you notice any of these red flags, pay attention to the patterns, ask lots of questions, and don’t be afraid to get honest about whether or not it’s time to make a change.
