ACAltering my clothes so I actually wear them!!!
I found this top at goodwill and absolutely love it but the wide shoulders bothered me every time I wore it. A little elastic and a few tries at sewing it onto the shoulder seams later and it feels like I have a brand new shirt!!!

To shorten this turtleneck we had to cast the stitches onto needles before cutting, then finish the edge so the knit structure holds.
Not every sweater can be altered. We review them case by case.

STWe immediately say no to:
▪️Bridal alterations for brides who don’t love their dress. If you don’t like the style of your gown, that is unlikely to change after alterations. This is why it’s so important to choose the dress YOU want and not the one your friends/family like the most.
▪️Hemming a wedding dress for a bride who has not yet found her perfect wedding shoes. Heel height is vital when deciding what length to hem your dress at.
▪️Copying another designer’s work. It’s fine to be inspired by existing designs but we won’t outright copy another designer.
▪️Vintage wedding dress redesigns that are impossible. When redesigning a vintage gown we have a limited amount of fabric to work with. Sadly we can’t turn a stiff rigid gown into a slinky body con dress!
▪️Alterations for brides who arrive to their appointment wearing full glam (eg fake tan & makeup), which can (and will!) transfer onto the gown.
▪️Working on a sample or a preloved gown that has not been drycleaned first. Many gowns shrink during cleaning so it’s very important to clean the garment before we commence alterations.
▪️Alterations for customers who encourage us to use quick/easy methods of sewing, instead of our preferred couture techniques, in the hopes of reducing the time it takes to complete the work. We don’t compromise on quality!
