ASWhen Someone Is Still Saying Aspergers Instead of Autism•••
Aspergers is an outdated term (the video says expired in 2012—that part is just a joke but is meant to imply that Aspergers has been unused for many years now due to the history of who Hans Asperger was and his affiliations with Nazis). I do now know details of what or who Hans Asperger was, but I have seen videos from @reberrabon_bon with more information about why we do not use “Aspergers” anymore.
Aside from the history of Hans Asperger, we also do not use this term anymore because it has wrongly severed the autistic community and given a somewhat superiority complex to those diagnosed with aspergers as opposed to autism—when in reality they are the same thing.
We do not use aspergers anymore, autism is autism—it is a spectrum which is why there is so much variability in support needs and masking. Not only is there variability amongst the autistic community, but there is also individual variability across a persons lifespan.
Please let me know your thoughts on this.

THAspergers Still Exists! And here is why. Hans Asperger was working in a clinic in Vienna in Austria during the German socialist party takeover of Austria. They also took over all of the medical facilities forcing any practitioners to tell the line and follow the rules of the government in particular Hans Asperger refused to let the Nazis take any of the children in his care stating that he was the best way to keep them safe. As an Autistic I’ve ended up in the most awkward socializing situations because my social brain works a bit different, it can be like this….
I somehow manage to say something extremely awkward totally unintentionally 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ I was thinking the best thing is to be on good terms with the neighbors, but I may have ended up doing the opposite by sounding like I was criticizing their choices😅😅 It’s weird because I can hear myself saying it but I can’t stop it, and I try to fix it but I keep making things worse. And then afterwards I just go over it in my head over and over and I think about how incredibly awkward I just was 😂

We see comments all the time telling us to just cut her hair, asking why we continue to put her through such a chaotic ordeal.
Cutting her hair may seem like an easy solution, b for who? Easy for us as her parents because we'd never have to deal with it until it grows back. Easy for Mikko? No, Not having anything to hold when she is asleep, scared, overwhelmed, sad, anxious or nervous could do more harm than good.
I do her hair once a week, but she has these feelings daily! I can't just NOT detangle, wash or take care of it. It has to be done and we are right there with her. through the pain, letting her know she isn't alone.
Autism is not the exception to pain or tough times.
She doesn't get a pass from learning how to deal with difficult situations. The world is tough and unfortunately we will not always be there to hold her hand. We know what's best because we are her parents, not because you saw 30 seconds into our lives.
