Every step of a rescue takes a specific set of actions and each life saving tool works in a specific order with the others. Understanding how to perform every step is crucial, and repetition is how you build efficiency. We just completed our 4 FREE Avalanche rescue classes for this season but don’t stop there. It is important to evaluate your avalanche rescue skills to make sure you are reinforcing correct habits and continuing to improve skills you may infrequently use. You want to be able to employ your skills efficiently in coordination with your team. As noted earlier, the chance of survival decreases significantly after 10 minutes. Timing your practice gives you an indication of how effective your skills would be in a real life incident response. You can check out the list of courses we offer on our website and click the “education” tab. Notice that some of these classes are already open for registration! We open each course 6 weeks ahead of the date for registration. The first few courses are 1 day Rescue classes, and our 3 day level 2. Don’t miss the opportunity to take a formal course on the snow!! With @bclutah hosting we will be providing 2 different Intro To Avalanches classes that are 1 day each, Wednesday/Thursday and then also offering a 1 day Rescue class Friday designed to give you the rescue process and fundamental skills so you can get good at rescue and set up practice on your own!
