UP‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ (2016)
Ben Affleck was so attached to his Batsuit that he asked the studio if he could keep it after filming concluded. The studio agreed, but told him he would have to pay $100,000 for it, which Affleck ultimately decided to opt out and just take a picture with the suit instead.
Affleck also trained for 15 months to get in shape for the role reaching 228 lbs with under 8% body fat to emulate the size of a MMA heavyweight fighter and have a similar physique to Frank Miller’s Batman comic series.

EC🎬 Fun Fact: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), Ben Affleck gained so much muscle to play Batman that the Batsuit had to be redesigned multiple times to fit his larger frame. Costume designers created a new flexible material to keep the suit looking bulky but allow him to move more naturally during fight scenes.

ASBatman Suiting Up!
In Batman Returns (1992), the suit-up scene is quick but iconic. Michael Keaton’s Bruce Wayne walks toward his Bat-suit closet, dramatically lit in his bat-cave. It’s a fast montage, with close-ups of him pulling on the gloves, boots, and mask, all set to Danny Elfman’s intense score.
In Batman Begins (2005) We see Christian Bale’s Bruce Wayne first building the suit, then later we see him stare at it briefly before heading out the night in Gotham.
In Batman v Superman (2016), Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne is advised against breaking into Lex Luthor’s house as Batman but rather as Bruce Wayne himself. Bruce still stares at his suit in what some might describe as rage. This Batman has a backstory where he seemingly tragically lost Robin.
Batman Forever (1995) gives Val Kilmer a flashy suit-up scene. The montage highlights exaggerated close-ups of him putting on the chest plate and gadgets, all in a neon-lit Batcave, matching the film’s more colorful style.
In Batman & Robin (1997), George Clooney’s suit-up is similar but even more exaggerated, intercut with Robin, famously featuring the “bat-nipples.” The iteration is often considered cheesy and over-the-top, with dramatic zoom-ins on the suit details.
Finally, The Batman (2022) shows Robert Pattinson suiting up in a grittier, more grounded way. The scene shows him transitioning from the drifter to Batman with his costume as a portable one.
