🧠 Your brain can still grow after 50. A lot of people think memory decline is just part of getting older. It’s not that simple. The hippocampus, one of the brain regions most involved in memory does tend to shrink with age. But regular aerobic exercise may help slow that down, and in some cases even increase its volume. Why? Because movement helps stimulate BDNF, a molecule often described as fertiliser for the brain. BDNF supports: learning memory resilience the growth of new brain cells That means exercise doesn’t just protect the body. It helps protect the brain you’ll need later. So no, cognitive decline is not always a fixed path. Sometimes the brain is waiting for the right stimulus. Most people are working on the wrong thing when it comes to their health. Sleep? Diet? Exercise? This FREE assessment scores you across all 5 pillars and tells you exactly which one to fix first. Follow @thelongevitychronicle for science - backed longevity tips. One of the most fascinating discoveries in neuroscience is that exercise can actually help grow new brain cells. This process occurs in a part of the brain called the hippocampus, which plays a crucial role in memory and learning. A key driver of this process is BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor) - called “fertilizer for the brain.” When you exercise, especially during aerobic activities like running or cycling, your body releases BDNF, which supports the survival, growth, and connectivity of neurons. Resistance training also plays an important role. When muscles contract during strength training, they release myokines, which are signaling molecules that communicate with different organs in the body- the brain. One such molecule, irisin, can cross the blood-brain barrier and stimulate the production of BDNF. In simple terms, movement doesn’t just strengthen your muscles-it sends powerful signals that help build and protect your brain. The transformative impact of exercise on your brain 💪🧠 Whether it’s the invigorating rhythm of aerobic workouts or the strength building of resistance training, your cognitive skill is set to soar. Recent studies dig into the nuanced benefits, revealing that exercise, including resistance training, enhances cognition. Enter the realm of neuroplasticity and meet BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor), the brains maestro orchestrating learning and memory. Unlike its aerobic counterpart, resistance training sparks unique neuroplasticity, with MRI scans unveiling a shield against Alzheimer’s in vulnerable hippocampal regions. Your brain has fertilizer—and it’s called BDNF 🌱 BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor) helps your brain grow, adapt, and stay resilient. Low BDNF? That can look like depression, burnout, brain fog, feeling stuck. Chronic stress ↓ BDNF Movement, sleep, learning, and yes—medication over time ↑ BDNF This is why healing isn’t instant. We’re not flipping a switch— we’re rebuilding a brain. And the wild part? The most powerful way to boost BDNF is free: exercise. It works. #BDNF #BrainHealth #MentalHealth #Depression #NP

High-intensity exercise doesn’t just build your body—it actually transforms your brain.🧠 It triggers the release of BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor), often touted as “miracle gro” for your brain. This powerful compound enhances neuroplasticity, improves brain function, and helps you build new neural connections at any age. Translation? Exercise aids in getting stronger, moving better, thinking sharper, and continuing to learn and improve across the board throughout your life. Movement isn’t just physical—it’s neurological! #bdnf #neurociencia

Every time you eat it, you fuel the addiction. That muesli, that takeaway, whatever keeps pushing you off the wagon. This isn't a willpower problem. This is biochemical. You can stop it by not eating it. Easy to say, hard to do. But once you understand the pathways, you can make an educated decision instead of a reactive one. Am I craving or am I actually hungry? Here's the bit most people don't know. Your brain has a built-in mechanism for resisting cravings. BDNF, brain-derived neurotrophic factor. It increases your ability not to give in. What raises BDNF? Saturated fats, omega-3s, vitamin D, and being in a ketogenic state. The same foods that fix the problem also give you the tools to stay away from the things causing it. Animal proteins and natural fats. Way more powerful than you think. Comment COMMUNITY and we'll send you the link to join our free 7-day trial. Depression? ⸻ #Depression #MentalHealth #Augenbewegung #BDNF
