After having his life slowly crumble around him for years, it had finally reached the breaking point. Not only his life, but the world itself. His denial finally came to the point where it became nothing but a desperate plea for all the proof he’d been given to be a massive messed up coincidence. He had to face the consequences of his actions; the consequences of trying to play two sides and failing both of them. His life became a nightmare for the short amount of time he was able to hang on to it. He wanted so badly to go back; to make different choices and to save the people he lost along the way. But that was impossible. Mistakes were made. People were hurt. And he was hurt because of that.
Zen never wanted his life to go like this. Nothing turned out the way he imagined it. There were good parts, and he tried to hang on to those, but the deep sorrow that came from losing those good things was hard to fight. He clung to every bit of happiness he could and tried to bring it to others when he could. But in the end it wouldn’t be returned to him.
Let’s just say… I finally remembered why I made Zen the main character. 💙
