Mistakes most people make when visiting Beppu and how to avoid them 🇯🇵 Beppu is know as the onsen capital of Japan and it’s also the largest onsen city in the world! So here are 4 mistakes you need to avoid if you’re planning a trip here: 1. Avoid staying near Beppu Station, instead stay near the Kannawa area because it’s where all the main attractions are at. I stayed at @beppu_hotel_negura which is less than a 15 minutes walk to all the places I wanted to visit! 2. Make sure to bring your own towels while exploring Beppu because each public onsen you visit will charge you up to $5 for a towel 3. You do not need to visit all Seven Hells Of Beppu (I’ve share the local rankings in the video). But if you only had time for one, I would recommend Umi Jigoku 4. Skip the basic sushi and ramen and make sure to try Beppu’s local cuisine steamed with hot spring steam! #japan #japantrip #japantravel

These are hot springs which are too hot to bathe in, so they’re just for viewing. They are different colors depending on the minerals in the water 🎨 You can get a “jigoku meguri” pass which allows you to visit each hell once for ¥2,200. It’s a great deal if you plan to visit all 7! Did you know that you can enjoy Beppu's hot springs by not only by bathing in them, but also by seeing them?♨😳 The Beppu Hells is one of the most spectacular attractions in the city, with seven different-colored hot springs scattered throughout the Kannawa and Shibaseki districts, offering a ‘hellish’ sauna experience in real life! We introduce three of them at this time. 🥚 To start, Kamado Jigoku is a collection of springs called the five “unbelievable” ponds, with muddy springs bursting with bubbles, steam springs, and icy-blue colored ponds. You can also steam your face at one of the steam stands on the premises, dip your toes in modestly warm springs, or eat eggs boiled from the power of the onsen! 🌊 Or visit Umi Jigoku, one of the most iconic of the hells, with one massive-sized blue hot spring paired with bright red tori gates. Then browse through the rest of the spring grounds, peek into the lotus greenhouse, or try the blue-colored beer at the cafe onsite! ♨️ Chinoike Jigoku (meaning Blood Pond Hell) is a firey bright red-colored spring caused by the rich minerals in the soil. Around the back is a set of stairs with a bird’s eye view of the pond. (2) Jigoku Steam Kobo Kannawa A recommended place to experience jigoku steaming! You can enjoy eating delicious jigokumushi while having fun! (3) Okamoto-ya Shop "This is the place where you can enjoy Beppu's famous jigoku-steamed ®︎ pudding. It is a great place for lunch and offers a wide variety of dishes such as udon, toriten (chicken tempura), and rice dishes. 4) Beppu Ropeway A typical spot in Beppu where you can climb to an altitude of 1,300 meters in about 10 minutes and enjoy a spectacular view. Recommended on a sunny day. 5) Okamoto-ya (Ryokan) A long-established ryokan with a history of over 148 years.
