You ever try running in a pool?
Your legs still move—but everything feels slow, heavy, and fought.
That’s drag.
Now picture your flywheels doing the same thing—spinning in a bath of oil at the bottom of an engine case.
That’s exactly what happens in a stock setup. The wheels are literally running underwater. Oil resistance creates friction, heat, and wasted energy. Power gets eaten before it ever makes it to the rear tire.
So here’s the old-school Bonneville trick most people never talk about.
We are adding a magnesium XR750 oil sump to the bottom of this 93” Shovelhead. That sump is welded and machined directly into the cases and paired with a Yankee Engineuity shaft-driven pump mounted in the cone of this fancy Sputhe cam cover. Duncan Keller is a fucking magician. If you’ve seen my last two engines at Born Free you know the caliber of engineering being introduced here.
Anyways, what does that do?
The moment oil enters the cases, it gets pulled out.
That means:
• The flywheels are no longer sloshing in a pool
• Drag is reduced
• Rotational speed comes up faster
• Oil temperature drops
• Power delivery sharpens
Instead of fighting oil, the wheels spin in air—like they were meant to.
Less resistance. Less heat. More usable power.
Old timers already know this is another trick to make a motor come alive and move.
Everyone else just sees a chopper that pulls harder than it should.
This isn’t a catalog build.
No bolt-on jewelry.
No fake performance.
This is a performance chopper—built to hunt Dynas, FXRs, and Twin Cams on the highway and leave them wondering why a Shovel just ran circles around them.
Form follows function.

200 hours on a part makes jet plane noises at 15,000 RPM. Send my piston underneath my flywheel for a 10 inch stroke, that’s how airplanes work. Anyways, 4 pieces for the @bornfreeshow motor. The center of the supercharger is a modified Eaton M024. The front, which is the majority of the machine time is a right angle gear drive so we can meet the generator gear drive you see on the last slide. Turns the belt 90 degrees. The bottom center intake brings 9 psi from the blower to motor. This I sand cast, I even enjoyed it. Haven’t casted much since the last bike. And finally a SS two throat matched to the Eaton on the rear. You could do this too! It’s not so bad! Working on the longer videos so you can see what’s up. Thanks

We’ve ridden to Born Free as a club since its inception. Blown engine cases and every road side fix imaginable. The stories we could tell would blow your minds. It’s always been about the ride for us. So in honor of the greatest chopper club in the world. This year, from Nevada to Sonora to SoCal, this bike’s getting ridden, not hauled.
When the show’s over, it becomes my daily — my club bike.
Show and go. No trailer queens. No expensive paperweights.
Just grit, gasoline, and smiles for miles. A bike true to our roots that can rip the eastern sierra mountains and is fast enough to leave your Dyna in the dust. Performance and style. This is the way.
