Surely I cannot be the only one working this December. I wish someone had told me becoming a biomedical engineer meant becoming an essential worker in the healthcare ecosystem. Yho. Ke utlwa ka December mo bathong. This is the only reason I’m unable to kotisa this year, next year I’ll take leave on time.😂👩🏽‍🔧 . . . . . . . . . #womenengineer #femaleengineer #thisiswhatanengineerlookslike #iamengineer #biomedicalengineering

Agenda reveal at the end 😍 Every day as a Biomedical Engineer is different, and I would like to start showing you more! I’ve said many times, but it’s a real gift to wake up each Monday excited to get to work. I wish that for everyone who follows on here 🥹 What’s my favourite part of the job? Im not a morning person - I’ve tried and will never be, but there’s something so rewarding about waking up each day in this field and knowing that your work is going to make a positive difference. What’s your favourite part? #biomedical #biomedicalengineer #engineer #stemcareers ** sponsored collaboration

Have you heard of this bone marrow breakthrough?🦴 As a biomedical engineer, Arlyne Simons turned a powerful question into a mission: why are only 18% of patent holders women? Her determination led to a diagnostic test that helps detect when cancer patients are rejecting bone marrow transplants. This project is part of @ifthenshecan, an initiative of Lyda Hill Philanthropies. #Science #Inventor #WomeninSTEM #BioMedical #Engineering

I’ve been reading your comments... and I hear you. Every time I post, I’m struck by how many of you are navigating the same "identity crisis" I’ve felt. Whether it’s the weight of being undiagnosed or the complicated relationship with ADHD medication, I see your stories, and I read every single one of them. Like, every single one of them. I’m not here to just give advice—I’m here to build a safe space for the reality of the ADHD brain. As a Biomedical Engineer, I can give you the science, but as a human, I want to give you the community. The truth? Medical labels are maps, but you’re the one walking the rough path. Whether you have the "official" map or you're navigating by your own compass, you aren't doing it alone. This is a place for no judgment, and I just wanted all of you guys, old and new, to know I care deeply about you all. You are safe here. 1. It happened in a small lab in North Carolina. A biomedical engineer named Dr. Anthony Atala stood over what looked like an ordinary 3D printer — except instead of plastic, it was loaded with living cells. The goal sounded impossible: to print a human bladder for a 14-year-old boy born with organ failure. 2. Layer by layer, the printer placed cells taken from the boy’s own tissue onto a collagen frame. Each drop pulsed with life, guided by computer code and warmth that mimicked the human body. After seven weeks of growth, the organ began functioning — it even produced the same proteins as a natural bladder. When surgeons implanted it, it worked. 3. What shocked the world wasn’t the technology — it was that the printed organ grew with the boy. Traditional implants stay the same size; this one learned and adapted. The case became the first proof that bioprinting wasn’t science fiction, but the future of medicine. 4. Since then, the field has exploded. Scientists now print cartilage for knees, skin for burn victims, and tiny livers that can test new drugs without harming animals. The dream is to one day eliminate transplant waiting lists entirely. The machine doesn’t need donors — it just needs your own cells and time. 5. Dr. Atala said something that stayed with everyone in the room: “We stopped asking, ‘Can we build life?’ and started asking, ‘Can we repair it?’” That sentence turned a lab project into hope for millions. What once sounded like miracle talk is now in hospitals — proof that healing might soon be printed, layer by layer. Would you trust an organ if it wasn’t born — but built?
