ROBoaters Ed cards, State license test are all woefully in adequate training in the areas of the collision rules. Some people actually think they are Captains licenses.
So how many times has a boater been yelled at stared at or otherwise made to feel uncomfortable and had their day spoiled when interacting with another boat because they didn’t know what to do and/or did something wrong.
In my expert opinion, in this scenario, both boaters performed almost identical actions. They were on a parallel course, and I don’t believe there was any violation of any rule, apart from entering the inlet too fast which they were both guilty of.
So why the yelling? Lack of experience and lack of knowledge of the Rules that apply to every vessel, every moment they are operating.
