MO7 COURSE DINNER AT CANLIS ❤️✨ @canlisrestaurant is Seattle’s BEST fine dining restaurant, having first opened 71 years ago in 1950! 😍 I came here for my boyfriend and I’s anniversary dinner last week, and everything blew me away - the food, service and valet are always incredible!! 💕

I love how you get to choose 3 of the courses (each course seemed to offer one seafood, one vegetarian and one meat choice). Then the chef also brings you 4 surprise courses throughout the dinner 🤩

What we got:
🔸1st course (snacks): Kanpachi wrapped in shiso leaf, mushroom custard, toasted scallop and a tempura maple blossom
🔸2nd course: Alaskan spot prawn with oyster mushrooms and watermelon radish
🔸3rd course: Canlis’s famous salad! Lettuce, tomato, oregano, and crispy bacon
🔸4th course: I chose the Duck with blood orange reduction, radicchio
🔸5th course: I got the Sea Bream, and my bf got the Strip Loin
🔸6th course (palate cleanser): a refreshing frozen yogurt with strawberry caramel + a ginger wafer 🍓
🔸7th course (dessert!): a French gateau with gold flakes, but we also got the Apple Cake and Smoked Cacao Nougatine (not featured in the video but still soooo delicious 😍)

CHFor a long time, Filipino cuisine never really received the recognition— and quite frankly the love— that our other Asian neighbors have. There are many speculations on this but over recent years, this has truly (finally) been moving towards a new reality.
On November 17, the landmark fine-dining institution, Canlis in Seattle, held a never-been-done-before Filipino kamayan— the traditional way of eating “by hand,” but also translating to a communal-style Filipino feast. This was spearheaded by Filipino-American executive chef Aisha Ibrahim, who is also Maranao on her father’s side.
You might remember that when the storied generational family restaurant, now run by brothers Mark and Brian Canlis, appointed Ibrahim as executive chef in 2021– the 1st female chef and person of color— in its over 70++ years of existence, it made many headlines.
Since, Ibrahim has been out here advocating; making changes— both internally and externally, like introducing Filipino and Asian-inspired dishes on their tasting menu.
For this very special kamayan, she gathered Seattle-based Filipino talents, James Beard-nominated chefs Melissa Miranda of Musang and Aaron Versoza of Archipelago, as well as Jordy Navarra from Toyo Eatery in Manila, the Best Restaurant in the Philippines on the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list, for this milestone dinner that in addition to celebrating Filipino culture and cuisine, raised funds for the non-profit Filipino Community of Seattle (FCS).
“When I started cooking, no one looked like me in fine dining,” Ibrahim shared in her welcome speech. “Executive chefs did not look like me in fine dining. And for a long time I didn’t know what to do with that. But you’re here, WE’RE here. And I want to welcome each of you here.”

Everything was wonderful the moment we were greeted by the valet and the host staff. Food was exceptional fresh and delicious. The service was outstanding. Everyone went out of their way to make us feel special. We had a view of Lake Union from our table as well. We will definitely be back✨

NO👑 Dining at @canlisrestaurant in Seattle was indeed a transformative experience for me.
As a Filipina who is navigating waters adjacent to the culinary industry, the representation at the level of Chef @aisha.ibrahim22 is invaluable to be exposed to. I felt a light in me spark during this visit.
There is not a single bad seat in the house. From every table, diners can take in panoramic views of Seattle’s Lake Union, the Cascade mountains, and Seattle’s cityscape from the restaurant’s 300-foot hillside perch. The service is a case study in upscale hospitality and the design is flawless yet warmly welcoming.
We were so lucky to have been invited to the enclosed kitchen (rare in the age of modern open kitchen design) to witness the team of extremely talented chefs perform at this level. It was like being in a movie? A dream, perhaps?
Canlis is well worth the journey. If you’ve not been, I highly recommend adding it to your culinary bucket list.
