ANChiar dacă numele acestei prăjituri a intrat sub revizuire în perioada comunistă (având legături nepermise cu fostul regim), la fel cum prăjitura “Bibescu” a devenit “Boema” și “Caraiman” a fost rebotezată “Carpați”/ “Bucegi”/ “Cabana”, însă cu ale sale rafinate foi Doboș a rămas nelipsită atât din cofetării, cât și de pe mesele festive de până în anii ‘90 când nu te numeai gospodină dacă rețetarul scris cu mânuța ta nu avea și trucurile (adnotate mai mult pe înțelesul tău!) pentru niște foi Doboș de succes.
În ultimii ani, valul “modern” de “cookies” și “banana bread”-uri parcă a luat fața unor clasice, însă în locurile acelea unde se știe că vei găsi prăjituri adevărate pentru care chiar îți trebuie experiență reală în bucătărie ca să le realizezi, Caraiman va fi mereu prezent. Are deja un secol.

LYBuilding a desert dinner in Wadi Rum Jordan 😁
Wanting to see and experience everything at camp, I have befriended the chef 😝
I was asked earlier in the day, if I required dinner tonight. While I did pack a backpack full of my own food, just in case 🤷♀️, without hesitation I said yes. 🙌
Passing by on my first exploration of my camp surroundings, I spotted this sunken barrel burning out back. I immediately knew what it was for and definitely wasn’t going to miss out. 😝
Later in the afternoon I just happened to come by again, and the chef was out smashing the coals down. He told me that he was going to put the dinner in here to cook for a few hours.
Of course I waited around to see it all 😁 How cool! We are having chicken and vegetables cooked in the sand!
Once the coals are flattened, the tray containing our food is carefully lowered inside. Large sheets of tinfoil are used to cover the hole to protect our feast from the sand.
Then a metal cover is placed over top and a blanket over top of that! Afterwards chef uses a shovel to pile sand in a hill formation over the top.
This will remain untouched for about three hours. ⏳
