It’s okay to decide you want to play there, but your technical ability will not increase or be challenged as much opposed to playing other positions. Your can always decide you want to play deeper, but it’s very hard to play center back for years, and then decide you want to be a midfielder. Remember- Youth ⚽️ is a development tool. If you are missing physicality, no problem we can fix that. First things first. Be smart. Stop trying to get into wrestling matches you are going to lose. Judge the scenario. Analyze what is the possible threat if you lose that physical battle. Make the player go negative. If you keep the play in front of you, that’s a good result. We don’t want the ball to go over you and get past you. Every scenario requires different behaviors. The idea is not try to get into a physical battle you are going to lose, other than the first scenario, where at least a bump is necessary. Getting bullied? Want to reach the pros? D1/D2/D3?
