At some point, almost every Philadelphia resident asks the same question. City or suburbs? @sarah.logiudice wrote a guide about the real considerations behind that decision — from lifestyle and space to schools and commute. Link in bio. Curious where people land on this.

Send this to someone who still doesn’t get it. Philadelphia has a reputation. And people who have never spent real time here are simply uninformed. This is not a city you pass through. It’s a city you move to, settle into, and then wonder why it took you so long. Mornings at @jiggy.coffee in Washington Square West. Weekends with friends in Washington Square Park or wandering through Old City. Some of the best restaurants in Philadelphia are right here — my personal favorites are @ambraphilly in Queen Village and @barbuzzo in Midtown Village. And the cobblestone streets of Head House Square are something you genuinely have to walk to understand. From Queen Village and Society Hill to Old City and East Passyunk, every pocket of Philadelphia has its own personality and its own pace. People considering a move to Philadelphia are often surprised by how much is here. The ones who make the move? They stay on purpose. Ready to make your next move in Philadelphia? 🍷 Date nights and great restaurants just a few blocks away
✈️ And an international airport about 20 minutes from Center City with nonstop flights all over the country Philadelphia is one of the most walkable cities in the U.S., and every neighborhood has its own personality. I simply won’t stand for it. Send this to your friend who loves Philadelphia as much as you do. Philly catches a lot of stray commentary, so consider this my official rebuttal: They say Philly is dirty.
→ Like any city, some blocks need love. But many of the neighborhoods people are choosing today are walkable, historic, and full of genuinely great local spots. They say people here are rude.
→ I prefer “efficient communicators.” Direct? Yes. Rude? Not really. They say there’s nothing to do.
→ Museums, restaurants, neighborhood festivals, waterfront walks, easy Shore trips… if you’re bored here, that might be a personal issue. They say Philly is just cheesesteaks.
→ The cheesesteaks are excellent, obviously. But the real story is the restaurant scene — Zahav, Vernick Food & Drink, Kalaya, just to name a few — plus a BYOB culture most cities would love to have. If you’re thinking about making a move in Philadelphia and want the real story behind the neighborhoods, comment MOVE or send me a DM, and we’ll start the conversation. — Sean Kaplan, Philadelphia real estate advisor helping clients navigate Center City and the surrounding neighborhoods 📍 Philadelphia Real EstateServing Queen Village + Society Hill + Old City + Washington Square West + surrounding Center City neighborhoods

Maybe this is your sign 😉 If you’re considering a move to Philadelphia, here’s why so many people are relocating to Philadelphia and putting down roots in Queen Village, Society Hill, and nearby neighborhoods across Center City: → morning walks through Philadelphia’s historic parks and tree-lined streets
→ a locally owned small business scene throughout Center City and surrounding neighborhoods → skyline views and waterfront paths along the Delaware River and Schuylkill River Trail
→ walkable neighborhoods that make daily life easier
→ strong job opportunities across healthcare, education, and finance
→ historic, character-filled homes throughout Philadelphia’s most established neighborhoods Whether you’re moving from the suburbs, relocating for work, or starting to think about your next move in Philadelphia, getting clear on where to focus can make the process much smoother. Living in Philadelphia is one of those things that’s hard to explain until you experience it. It’s not just where you live. It’s how your days feel. Why living east of Broad is so worth it: 01. The view down a cobblestone alley in Society Hill never gets old — and neither does knowing streets like this have been here since the 1700s 02. You can’t walk into @shottowercoffee without running into at least three people you know 03. Walks through Queen Village that somehow feel calm and lively at the same time 04. Places like @southwarkphl and @thefitzwatercafe that stop being restaurants and start being part of your routine 05. Headhouse Square, Fabric Row, Starr Garden — the kind of anchors that make a neighborhood feel like a neighborhood 06. A sense of community that makes this corner of the city feel smaller, warmer, and more connected than most This is why people move to Philadelphia. And it’s why so many who arrive never really want to leave. Curious about the market east of Broad? Send this to a friend who is planning a move to the Greater Philadelphia area. The past two days we have been blessed with sunny skies and 70 degree weather in the Philadelphia region. I can feel the seasonal depression lifting already 😎 There’s something about this time of year here. It’s grabbing coffee @rivalbroscoffee in Passyunk, realizing you still have hours of daylight left, and ending up at dinner @barcelonawinebar without rushing home. Evenings in Bucks County start to stretch out again. You’ve got walks at Bristol Waterfront, patio tables filling up around Mill Street, and neighborhoods like Bristol and Yardley buzzing with people out enjoying the longer days. From South Philly to Bucks County, this is when the Greater Philadelphia area really starts to come alive again. The homes are great, yes. But it’s the lifestyle around them that makes people stay. With Harrisburg passing legislation to allow establishments to stay open until 4AM, Philadelphia is in a strong position to make the most of a big year. A packed calendar of major events is bringing people into the city, and later hours give visitors more time to experience what out city has to offer It also creates real economic opportunity supporting local businesses, increasing earning potential for workers, and helping Philly fully show up during a year when all eyes are on the city.
