JEHere are a few quick laundry tips from a dry cleaner:
1) Liquid detergent is an amazing pretreatment, just rub a little bit on a stain
2) Mesh bags are incredible, not only for protecting delicate items, but also for not losing socks and underwear
3) I like to keep a stain remover spray hanging off my hamper and pretreat stains right when I take my clothes off
4) Oxygen bleach is the only bleach you should ever use
5) And the express cycle is lovely for stuff that isn’t very dirty

Most stains aren’t as unique as they look, almost every stain fits into just 5 categories:
Enzymatic stains (food, blood, chocolate, grass, body oil) → use an enzyme treatment and wait for an hour for best results.
Oily stains (sebum, grease, butter, oil) → dish soap or liquid detergent does the trick, just don’t overdo it!
Oxidizable stains (coffee, wine, sweat) → oxygen bleach like hydrogen peroxide or a powdered oxygen bleach (OxiClean).
Particulate stains (dirt, mud, clay, sand) → washing soda, borax, or baking soda.
Special stains (makeup, ink, rust, sunscreen, wax, marker) → need targeted specific treatments.

Here’s how I get mine looking (and smelling!) fresh again every winter using my Strucket and a few clever laundry hacks:
1️⃣ Fill with warm water & 1 tsp detergent
2️⃣ Soak jackets for 1 hour ⏰
3️⃣ Drain with the plug (no mess!)
4️⃣ Rinse and strain 💦
5️⃣ Dry flat overnight
6️⃣ Then pop in the dryer with a towel & 2 tennis balls on low heat to get that puff back! 💨

Things they don’t want you to know… you can machine wash your clothing that says “DRY CLEAN ONLY” but you just need to know which ones!
I personally only go to the dry cleaner for complex things, stains I really can’t get out (I don’t keep chemicals in my home, but 99% of the time I can get them out — even when my dry cleaner couldn’t!) and blazers/jackets maybe once a season.
It’s better for you, your clothes, your wallet and the environment to keep these trips to a minimum. 🌎
When I worked for a designer, one of my jobs was making the dry clean only labels and I asked if everything really needed to be dry cleaned… the designer admitted they did this because 1) it’s just easier and 2) to protect the brand in case the consumer messed up the clothes while washing.
Don’t mess this up 😅
Pro tips:
🫧Choose natural fibers over synthetics this season like the ones here as they breathe better and are easier to clean at home
🫧Keep a natural fabric spray on hand for quick refreshes
🫧Use a delicates or bio based fragrance free detergent for most of the above
