Picking up immediately after the devastating Invincible War and his brutal encounter with Conquest, Mark Grayson finds himself in a darker, more precarious position than ever. As Earth attempts to rebuild, Mark is haunted by the lives lost and his own shifting morality, having finally accepted that some threats must be ended permanently. However, there is no time for recovery as the Viltrumite War officially begins.
Season 4 adapts one of the most significant arcs from the comics, following Mark, Nolan, and Allen the Alien as they lead the Coalition of Planets in a desperate struggle against the Viltrumite Empire. The stakes reach an all-time high with the introduction of Grand Regent Thragg, the most powerful and ruthless Viltrumite to ever live. On Earth, Mark must also contend with the complex and dangerous Dinosaurus, as well as the return of the supernatural detective Damien Darkblood, who brings a more mythological tone to the conflict.
It is a season of cosmic scale and intense psychological weight, pitting the Guardians against an intergalactic force while forcing Mark to balance his humanity against the brutal necessities of a universe-altering war.
