Why are some Canadians still working in their 70s? For many, it’s not about loving their job,it’s financial necessity. In 2026, the maximum Canada Pension Plan (CPP) payment for new retirees is approximately $1,500 per month. And to qualify for the maximum CPP benefit, you must contribute the maximum amount for roughly 39 to 40 years, typically from age 18 to 65. For immigrants who moved to Canada in their 30s or 40s, that contribution window is shorter. That means many newcomers may receive closer to the average CPP payment, which is significantly lower. This isn’t about fear. It’s about understanding how retirement planning in Canada actually works. If you’re an immigrant or professional in Canada, relying only on CPP may not be enough for long-term financial security. Here’s what matters: • Take full advantage of employer RRSP matching • Stop using retirement accounts like short-term savings • Understand how RRSP and TFSA fit into your retirement plan • Consider whether permanent life insurance (like whole life or universal life) fits your long-term strategy • Build additional retirement income streams beyond government benefits Retirement in Canada requires intentional planning — especially for immigrants who started contributing later. You don’t want to work at 75 because you have to. You want to work because you choose to. Comment “RETIRE” if you want clarity on what your retirement could realistically look like. Follow for practical retirement planning guidance in Canada. Save this ,future you will thank you. #RetirementPlanningCanada #CanadaPensionPlan #CPP #RRSP #TFSA ImmigrantFinanceCanada FinancialPlanningCanada WealthBuildingCanada PersonalFinanceCanada

Is the Canada Pension Plan going bankrupt? You’ve probably seen the headlines. You’ve probably heard the debates. Let’s separate noise from data. This isn’t a political take — it’s based on the findings of the Chief Actuary of Canada, whose job is to stress-test the CPP decades into the future. According to the most recent actuarial report, the Canada Pension Plan is financially sustainable for at least the next 75 years under current contribution rates. Yes, Canada’s population is aging. Yes, fewer workers will support more retirees. Those concerns are real — but they’re not new. The CPP was fundamentally restructured in the late 1990s to prepare for exactly this shift. Today, it’s not just funded by contributions — it’s backed by a massive global investment fund now exceeding $600 billion. A growing portion of benefits are paid from investment earnings — not just new contributions. That’s a major reason CPP isn’t facing the same projected shortfall as U.S. Social Security. Is it perfect? No. Does it require oversight and periodic adjustments? Absolutely. Is it going bankrupt? The data says no. 🎥 If you want the full breakdown (with sources), check out my YouTube video where I go deeper into the numbers. #CPP #CanadaPensionPlan #RetirementPlanning #PersonalFinanceCanada #FinancialLiteracy #WealthPlanning #CanadianInvesting #RetirementIncome #MoneyEducation #CFP

We break down why your first Canadian paycheck might be smaller than you anticipated. We explain the difference between gross pay and take-home pay, discuss how federal and provincial income taxes work in Canada, and cover mandatory deductions like CPP (Canada Pension Plan) and EI (Employment Insurance). We show how a $1,000 gross paycheck typically becomes $750-$850 after taxes and deductions, and reassure you that this is completely normal—everyone feels underpaid when they first see their Canadian paycheck. #CanadianPaycheck #TaxesInCanada #GrossPay #workincanada #jobsincanada

Most Canadians assume CPP will fully take care of their retirement. The reality? The Canada Pension Plan was designed to replace only a portion of your income, not your entire lifestyle. In this reel, I break down how CPP works, who qualifies, and whether it’s truly enough to support the retirement you envision. Understanding the numbers today can prevent financial stress tomorrow. 🤔 What is enhanced CPP? 🤩 It is the expansion of the Canada Pension Plan that started in 2019 for workers. It boosts income replacement from 25% to 33% of pensionable earnings. 🤑 CPP is funded by higher contribution rates for employees and employers (5.95% now vs 4.95% previously for basic CPP) and a second earnings ceiling (you keep paying into CPP for more of your earnings) added in 2024 (that contribution rate is 4%). 👀 You may have noticed in 2024 that the date when your monthly pay increased by a little (after you had maxed out your CPP contributions) was later in the year. The enhanced CPP contributions are the reason why. 🗓️ For 2026, the income level after you don’t pay into CPP anymore is $85,000 (there is a distinction between the basic amount and the enhanced, but for practical purposes, $85,000 is the number to know). #CPP #canadapensionplan
