Traveling through YVR with kids doesn’t have to feel stressful. After plenty of family travel days, these are a few things that make the experience so much smoother for us: ✈️ Use Gateway Valet parking for an easy drop-off right at departures ✈️ Stay the night at Fairmont Vancouver Airport if you have an early flight @fairmontvancouverairport ✈️ Grab a pre-flight meal at Globe @ YVR (kids 5 and under eat free) ✈️ Give your kids a “travel job” to keep them engaged ✈️ Leave time to explore the shops, play areas, and kid-friendly spaces Travel days with kids will always have a little chaos… but a smoother start makes a big difference. I have teamed up with @yvrairport to shared more family travel tips and practical advice for flying through Vancouver International Airport (YVR) with kids — you can find the full guide at the link in my bio. 📸Cover photo (and family captures) by the ever wonderful @folkallpoint #familytravel #travellingwithkids #yvr #vancouverairport

Spring break couldn’t have come at worse timing for so many families facing extraordinary airport delays this week… If you’re braving the waits, here are some tips to keep in mind as you prepare to travel. 🗣️ Real Conversations: Prepare kids of all ages ahead of time with the honest truth—there may be BIG waits that will feel tough for everyone. We’ll probably all be grumpy at some point, but let’s make a pact to try our hardest to stay positive until we get to [insert destination]. 🧳 Seats and Strollers: Bring along any seated devices that can make little kids (or yourself!) more comfortable during the longest waits. If you’ve got a carry-on stroller, pack that! Delays upon arrival may be tough too, especially if you’re headed back through customs. (Featured in the reel: the @babbleroo HopLite carry-on stroller and @microkickboard Allrounder travel cart.) 🧃 Cold Snacks: Pack a backpack or small cooler for easy and healthy snacks tha stay handy. Yogurt smoothies, cool juice, string cheese and berries are options that always serve us well. (Featured in reel: @noreceptionclub Hideaway Duffel) 🎈 Think Outside the Box: Snag painters or washi tape, un-inflated balloons to stick in your pocket, rubber bands or pipe cleaners to act as “new” fidget tools and toys that you can pull out during the longest waits. 🧘🏻‍♀️ Model Calm: Most importantly, model the type of calm and understanding behavior that you expect out of your kids. There isn’t anyone standing in a wildly long line that isn’t frustrated, and everyone at the airport is trying to get somewhere. Good luck to travelers this week! If you’re out and about, what are you packing to help (aside from patience? 🙃) Comment GEAR and I’ll share a link to our favorite finds on Amazon for traveling with babies, toddlers and kids! #airportdelays #springbreak #travelwithkids #toddlertravels #travelmoms

We are a @united family through and through, but touring the airline at O’Hare completely changed the way I see family travel 👇🏼 From automatic family seating at no extra cost (also… can we talk about how other airlines are charging for this now?! 😬) to enclosed winter bag drop and a super user-friendly app that literally guides you through the airport AND acts as your personal travel assistant, it’s veryyyy clear they’re thinking about parents traveling with kids 🙌🏼 Add in free stroller and car seat gate check, pre-boarding for littles, kids entertainment at every seat, a Children’s Travel Kit (origami paper included which my boys are fully in their origami era soooo 1000/10 for that one), AirTag bag tracking integration, and even a wellness room inside Polaris Lounge. It's intentional and as a mom of 3, I appreciate that more than they will ever know!!!! Because these are the little and not-so-little things that make a difference on family travel days. Am I right or am I right?! Spring break is coming up, and if you’re heading somewhere with the kiddos, United is the way to fly ✈️

Some airlines offer them. We’ve received them flying with @aircanada before. Arrive early. Pack snacks. Keep passports accessible. Download your airline app. Save this for your next flight and send it to a Toronto parent flying soon.

Okay so how early should you actually get to the airport?? Domestic Travel: 2 hours before your flight is typically recommended ✈️ International Travel: 3 hours before your flight is typically recommended 🌏 However, as someone who has shown up at those recommended times and cut it way too close more than once…here are some things I’ve learned: ➕Add time if…. - You have a toddler who insists on walking. This isn’t the battle you want to pick on a travel day! Give them as much opportunity to move before the flight as possible. - Car seats need to be unloaded from the car - Car seats or other items are being checked and you might need extra assistance - The car needs to be parked as opposed to curbside drop off - You weren’t able to check in ahead of time (I find this happens a lot when traveling with kids - it will instruct you to see the agent for check in) - You are traveling during holidays - Airport is large and busy ➖Remove time if… - You have TSA precheck - You are traveling at a smaller/less busy airport - Carry on bags only - Curbside drop off We typically add 30-60 mins of extra buffer time to our travel days and often find we need it! I would much rather have some down time in the airport with the kids than rushing and stressing 😬 No testing the airport theory here ❌ How early do you get to the airport?? #flyingwithbaby #travelwithkids #flyingwithkids

March Break is one of the busiest times at our airport, and Toronto Pearson workers always go above and beyond for our passengers ✈️ Here are some quick tips to help you support passengers even better during the rush. ✨Today’s tip: One of the most common questions is about family-friendly amenities and special facilities—be ready to guide families to the support they need. Let them know there are dedicated spaces and services available throughout the airport to make their journey smoother. Check out our March Break page in bio! The last thing any family wants to start vacation with is a stressful airport line. Lately, TSA lines across the country have been significantly longer than usual, especially during peak travel times. So if you’re flying in the next few weeks, here’s a quick travel tip: ✈️ Give yourself more time at the airport than you normally would. A few simple things can make the experience much smoother: ✨ Arrive earlier than usual. Many airports are currently recommending three hours before domestic flights during busy travel windows. ✨ Check your airport’s social media accounts before leaving home. The TSA app isn’t currently being updated consistently, so it’s not always accurate for real-time wait times. ✨ Consider a CLEAR membership. At many airports, this can significantly shorten your time in the security line. ✨ Have your ID ready before you reach the front. It’s a small thing, but it keeps the line moving and avoids that last-minute scramble. ✨ Traveling with younger kids? Look for “Families on the Fly.” Many airports have separate security lanes for families with children 12 and under if you don’t have TSA PreCheck. When you’re traveling with kids, tight schedules, or connections to make, a little preparation before you even leave home can make the entire day feel easier. These are exactly the kinds of travel details I keep a close eye on when helping families plan their trips because a great vacation should start long before you reach the destination. #familytravel #familytravelexpert #travelwithkids #traveltip #travelbetter @wishuponastarwithus
