"Never Let Me Down Again" is a song by the English electronic band Depeche Mode. It was released as the second single from their sixth studio album, Music for the Masses (1987), on 24 August 1987. Written by Martin Gore, arranged by Alan Wilder and produced by Depeche Mode and David Bascombe, it was recorded between sessions in Paris and London and mixed in Denmark.

Inspired by punk energy and the DIY ethos , but determined to break with rock clichés , post - punk artists experimented with styles such as jazz , electronica , and funk , as well as the production techniques of dub and disco . The movement also frequently intersected with art and politics, including critical theory , modern art , film , and literature . Independent record labels, visual arts labels, multimedia performance labels, and fanzines emerged.
