SIA local TikToker has come under fire after posting a video describing attendees at a card convention in Singapore as “smelly,” sparking backlash online.
On April 12, Daryll, who goes by @/darylljaypt on TikTok, uploaded a clip of himself outside Singapore Expo. In the video, he said he regretted attending the card show as “everyone was so smelly.”
Describing the odour, Daryll likened it to “fermented” sweat in “fat folds,” adding that “everyone smells like that,” before proceeding to mimic vomiting sounds.
Based on the video, Daryll appeared to have attended the SG Collectibles & Card Show, which took place at Singapore Expo from April 11 to 12.
Following the backlash, Daryll posted a follow-up video titled “I am sorry that you are smelly,” where he addressed the criticism.
In the video, he acknowledged the online reactions but denied criticising the trading card hobby. He also clarified that he was not an influencer, a label used by some commenters.“I was there also,” he said, adding that his main issue was with attendees not showering before the event.
“Don’t try to gaslight everyone and make it seem like I’m bashing your hobby,” he added. “What I’m bashing is the sour smell that many people seem to have.”
He also suggested that people change their soap or shower more frequently.
Additionally, Daryll addressed personal attacks directed at him, including comments about his appearance and remarks involving his wife.
