THThe reality show @loveisblindnetflix is all about emotionally connecting and taking the physical connection out of the equation, and I am here for it!
Here are some of the things you can take away from the show:

If you haven't seen the show, it's basically about people who are only allowed to talk to each other through a wall and after spending time talking they can decide if they want to get married!
I know it sounds bananas 🍌 but I think it's more bananas that people are getting married without emotionally connecting first.
Think about it.
How often are we hooking up, kissing, having sex with people on the first date, 2nd date or whatever and that honestly confuses people. We start to think we are in love when it's really just lust.

JEIt’s been three years since the release of A Love Letter Life, and since then we have been deeply encouraged and inspired by all your feedback telling us how this book changed your perspective on love or re-inspired you to date intentionally; pursue creatively, and love faithfully.
A lot has happened since those late nights of writing this book in the living room of our old house while rocking our firstborn.
Our kids now out number us, and we’re discovering just how important it is to keep asking this question: “what kind of love story do we want to be read back to us one day?”
Our publisher asked us if we would consider writing an additional chapter to our book with some perspective since becoming parents.
In this additional chapter we share some of our perspectives, practices, and practical ideas that have encouraged us as we embrace this season of raising young children and growing our family.

SII didn’t stumble into this relationship, and I didn’t get “lucky” finding this man I’m so excited about who also loves my kids and wants a life with me. It came from learning how to date intentionally instead of emotionally, especially after years of being in a marriage that wasn’t healthy.
Early on, I made dating choices based on chemistry, hope, and wanting things to work. Over time, I learned how to slow down, ask better questions, notice how I actually felt around someone, and stop overriding my own instincts. That shift is what led me to a relationship that feels steady, supportive, and genuinely enjoyable — including moments like this that I never would have pictured a few years ago.

BA3 questions I ask on every first date as a 31 year old who’s intentionally dating:
These may sound like heavy/ loaded questions but you don’t need to get super deep
1. Do you love what you do? Your 20s is all about figuring it out… but the guys I’m dating are generally 30+ so I think at this point you should have found a spot where you’re happy. If you’re not that’s fine too! Just not for me.
2. Have you been in a relationship over a year? For me this is important bec I don’t want to teach someone the basics of what it’s like to incorporate me into their life, how to solve conflicts & how to get past the honeymoon phase. Obviously every relationship has its learning curve… I also think it’s important to see how they speak about it on a basic level. Are they super negative on their ex? Etc. It’s very telling even if you don’t go deeply into it & I would suggest you don’t esp on a first date.
3. What’s your relationship like with your family? This is all to see what their family values are, not necessarily about how close or not they are with their family. Everyone has different situations but you learn a lot about where they stand with this overall question.
If you’re intentionally dating, it’s important to actually ask some real questions on a first date! It doesn’t mean it has to be deep or heavy. You’re just scratching the surface with these. Seeing if you align on some core values.

most of the time when someone says “they rushed into marriage” what they mean is that the couple didn’t date the amount of time the world deems appropriate before tying the knot.
what they are missing is that time is not magic.
it doesn’t heal all wounds,
it doesn’t prevent divorce,
it doesn’t equal financial stability,
it doesn’t guarantee a happy & healthy family.
it is significantly more important to date well, with intentionality, conviction, vulnerability & commitment to Christ above all rather than date a certain amount of time.
if you date WELL, yes time is helpful, but it’s not the main thing.
i believe wholeheartedly that so many christian couples can & should get married much faster!
we should be grounded in faith not fear.
3 red flags of a couple who is actually rushing it
🚩they are ignoring red flags & hard conversations
🚩they are not seeking godly counsel
🚩they are not considering their future ministry or family
my fiancé & i did these things & got engaged in 7 months because we were ready. our timeline is not everyone’s, but just here to say it’s possible & encourage you to think deeply about why you have a certain timeline in your mind. is it grounded in scripture or in the world’s arguments?
