Most of the time, being deafblind looks like this.
Living my best life + traveling the world.
But sometimes it also looks like…
Crying because I walked into a door with my face because I didn’t see it was open into the hallway
Not understanding anything a tour guide is saying in a cave because I wear hearing aids
Being a disabled human isn’t always easy, but I always keep going.
I wanted to share some vulnerability here because I share the positive side of disability so often.
Yes, I love who I am.
Sometimes I have a hard time being deafblind.
I hate injuring myself when I bump into something or walk into something that I didn’t see.
I hate ableism and inaccessibility within the travel industry that makes it harder for me to enjoy experiences.
This doesn’t mean I want to change who I am.
But it’s okay to express the hard parts too.
