MLHere are 5 things you should know BEFORE drawing a comic page: ⤵️⤵️
💥 1. CANVAS SIZE - your page/canvas size depends on
the type of comic you’re making! Here are some options:
• Standard US comic: 6.625 x10.25”
• Manga: 5 x 7.5”
• Manhwa: 5.75 x 8.25”
• Graphic novels: often 6x9”
💥 2. BLEED
Since some of your page can
get cut off during printing you
HAVE to add bleed to your canvas
For example: for a 6x9” comic
your canvas size should be
around 6.25 x 9.25”
💥 3. SAFE ZONE
Make sure to keep the most
important parts of a page inside
the SAFE ZONE - a smaller section
of your canvas
E.g. if you’re printing at 6x9”
your safe zone is around 5.5x8.5”
💥 4. RESOLUTION
Although 300DPI is often
acceptable, try using 600 DPI
for even sharper inks & details
when printing
💥 5. SCRIPTING!
Even if you’re writing AND
drawing it yourself, having
even a loose script or outline
to go off can keep your
pacing & composition
on track ✅
