HIDIY FAIL 😭
We built these kitchen shelves almost 4 years ago, and they absolutely transformed our kitchen! We even reinforced them last year with anchors, making sure they were sturdy enough to handle the weight of our plates and glassware.
Welp, with the high heat this past week in LA the brackets literally melted and bent (made malleable? idk the right word but yall are so feisty in the comments - we’re not positive but pretty sure this is what happened), causing the entire wall of shelves to collapse. The cherry on top is discovering this at 2am when we came home from the airport after our relaxing vacation LOL 🍒
So… learn from our mistakes and invest in high-quality brackets. Looking back, we wish we would’ve gone with cast iron ones, but we prioritized aesthetic over function and sometimes that just doesn’t cut it.
Now to decide what to do in here. Do we rebuild the same shelf system? Or start new? Any and all ideas welcome 🙃💡🛠️

REFor a new leg machine I had the idea to make a pendulum squat. A friend of mine came to help me building it.
When doing squats on the mobility board I really like the more tension on the quads. So I wanted a machine that could do the same.
I found a fence and used some scafolding materials to build the frame. I now easily can adjust the weight and put more behind my head.
If you liked this idea please share it! I want more people to be inspired to be more creative and build things out of rest materials that otherwise would be thrown away.

BU- DIY FAIL -
If you’re installing a membrane between your floor and tile DONT use premixed thinset.
Premixed needs air to dry, whereas the powder dries from a chemical reaction. The membrane doesn’t allow the premixed to dry.
Luckily I was able to salvage most of the tiles for this project.

FO✨DIY Fail of the Day✨
Thought I was being clever today — not just with the job itself, but by sharing a handy tip too. I’d misheard some advice from our builder neighbour, so feeling confident, I showed how you can use the simplest of tools (a lollipop stick, in this case) to get a clean finish on the silicone. Turns out, the real lesson here wasn’t about the lollipop stick… but about actually listening to instructions. 😅
Because here’s where it all went wrong — I sprayed the area beforehand, thinking I was helping the process. Instead, I just made sure the silicone wouldn’t adhere to the textured floor at all. 🤦♂️
So now, instead of admiring a neatly sealed toilet, I’ll be back at it tomorrow, scraping it all off and starting again. And because no DIY journey is complete without a few mishaps, I thought I’d share this little faux pas with you all — so you can hopefully avoid doing the same! 🙃
