Hey what types of carbs should I eat? A question I get often. Carbs aren’t inherently fattening beyond their calorie content, BUT some sources are more satiating and filling than others. Here are some of the standard filling sources I recommend to patients. Notice I didn’t include non-starchy vegetables as they tend to account for a very small amount of carbs and energy in general (but are very good to eat too). Things like rice and pastas (non-chickpea or lentil pasta) are fine to eat as well. They just may not be as filling as these sources. You also don’t have to eat any of these to lose weight by the way. Weight loss comes down to energy balance. You don’t even have to eat carbs if you don’t want. But if you do and you want some filling options, start with these. Hope that makes sense!! ❤️❤️❤️ #docswholift #carbs

Does your doctor even lift bro ? 😂💪 At least 4 times a week in clinic I’ll have a patient stop me and say “you’re the doctor …. You don’t look like a doctor.” 🧐 Usually we joke and say yeah I’d probably fit in better with the construction crew or as a bouncer. 🛠️ I’ve found that being physically fit has its pros and cons when talking to patients. It often provides trust when I share information regarding nutrition and exercise, it can also be off putting when I have patients who don’t want to be told their decreased muscle strength and increased body weight is the cause of their problem. By the way before you insert a comment about that know that I am remarkably sensitive to the way I present that information to patients . Regardless - I practice what I preach and I’ll continue to advocate that fragility is fatal deconditioning kills and it’s in your and my best interest to develop and maintain physical fitness. No one regrets being strong. The McGill Big 3 is not the magic solution for all cases of back pain (spoiler alert, NOTHING is) Your case of back pain is unique, just as everybody else’s is If you’ve been doing these drills for months on end without improvement, then they’re probably not the right drills for you Plus, if all you’re doing for your back pain is these drills, without progressively adding in variations of the actual movements you want to be doing, you’re probably underprepared to do those movements A specific plan with specific drills and modifications to your training is probably going to be better than any generic group of rehab drills you find online If this is something you’re looking for, DM me “Barbell” #backpain #backpainrelief #docswholift
