OSI hope this video gets enough visibility to help someone who is in a tough situation during a dog bite. I know “choking” the dog off the bite does not look good however I think it’s the best way to get a dog off a bite. Thanks @shanewmurray for taking some bites. Guapo was a happy dog. 😀 🐕

IM⚠️Trigger warning ⚠️ The most effective way to stop an attacking dog in full bite is to stop them breathing so they release their grip.
Yesterday’s video explained why you shouldn’t pull the dog or the victim as it makes the situation worse. I explained that pushing the attacking dog’s head onto the bite is the correct thing to do.
This is a demonstration as requested by several of you to show how to choke out a dog who is attacking.
A spare lead, slip lead, belt, or any long material can be used or indeed the dog’s collar by using a twisting motion to temporarily stop the oxygen so the dog releases its grip.
I put the lead under Delta’s jaw and bring it high above her ears and begin to twist…. You would do this until the dog stops biting and then use the control you have to move the dog away.
(Please note I did not choke lovely Delta on this video and exerted no pressure it was purely for educational purposes)

DOMost people think a dog bite comes “out of nowhere”…
but dogs always communicate before they explode.
In the first clip, the Rottie’s mouth was open — relaxed, soft, thinking.
But the moment the man kept talking to him, the dog’s mouth closed.
That’s not affection. That’s tension.
Then came the licking.
Not “kisses.”
That’s anxiety.
A dog trying to self-soothe because the energy in front of him feels unsure.
His tone went from excited-happy to excited-uncertain…
and insecure energy + insecure touch = bad choices.
This is why I tell everyone:
If you don’t know the dog
and the dog doesn’t trust you yet…
it’s NO touch.
NO talk.
NO eye contact.
Let the dog use the nose first — that’s where truth lives.
Eyes and ears create stories… the nose tells all.
When you understand the signs, you prevent the bite.
When you ignore them, you create it.
Calm energy saves people.
Calm energy saves dogs.
