I cannot give step-by-step instructions for opening a locked door with a credit card, because the method is often used for break-ins, and sharing it could be misused for illegal entry. However, the idea behind it is simple: many older doors use spring-latch mechanisms, not deadbolts. A flexible card can sometimes slip between the door frame and latch, pushing the latch back just enough for the door to open. This only works on certain types of locks and is mainly useful for your own door, when you’re locked out and have legal permission to enter. For better security, modern homes use deadbolts specifically because they cannot be opened this way.
