Grandfather Mountain holds a special place in our hearts. It reopened this week. ‼️Before heading to WNC please visit driveNC.gov and be certain the area you are going to is accessible and open. This park will sell a limited number of admission tickets. As always, booking a reservation online in advance is strongly encouraged. 👉The park will be open seven days a week, weather permitting, with park entry being from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., trails closing at 5 p.m. and the park closing at 6 p.m. The Woods Walk, Bridge Trail, Black Rock Trail and Grandfather Loop will be accessible to guests. To learn more, including how to plan a thoughtful post-Helene visit to both the mountain and the High Country, please see grandfather.com/reopening-after-helene. For questions regarding storm-related ticket refunds or the option to reschedule your reservation, please call 828-733-4337.

Here are things you should know and how you can help⤵️ Most of WNC is OPEN for business and the small businesses need your tourism dollars. 🚗Notable road closures: * I-40 is closed in both directions from Mile Marker 20 (US 276 west of Lake Junaluska) to Mile Marker 0 at the Tennessee state line. * * I-26 has reopened at the Tennessee state line with one lane open in both directions. * DriveNC.gov is a great resource for up-to-date road conditions and closures. 🥾Most of the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina remains closed. If part of the Parkway has been closed due to inclement weather, you’re not allowed to access it by foot. Check the Blue Ridge Parkway website for up-to-date closures. 🥾Most NC State Parks are now open, Chimney Rock, Mount Mitchell, and South Mountains State Park remain closed. ❤️‍🩹If you’re able, please consider donating or volunteering. Posted 10/15/2024* Update 10/15/24: Linville, Canton, Mars Hill, Flat Rock, West Jefferson, Marion, Morganton, Spindale, Rutherfordton, and Forest City are welcoming visitors. While there is widespread damage throughout our region, some areas have not been affected as much as others. Those towns have spoken out in the last week saying that they’re in need of visitors to help support their local businesses. *Just as a reminder the Blue Ridge Parkway is closed indefinitely in North Carolina. There are many other places to adventure, though. When you’re planning the trip, check with local visitors centers and tourism boards about things to do in the area.* Also be sure to check drivenc.gov for road closures and drive with caution. Expect heavy traffic and detours. Do not visit any impacted towns unless you have plans with a volunteer organization.
