What a beautiful dusky flathead shown by Cassidy here. 👏 Rhys recently took his daughter Cassidy to Lake Tyers chasing duskies on soft plastic and hard-body lures. Initially, Rhys started out with 7-inch plastics and large double-clutches, hoping to capture a big dusky. While they managed to catch a few flatties in the high 50s, bream, tailor and pinkies, Rhys was hoping for something more. Cassidy wasn’t having as much luck with her outfit, so Rhys lent her his favourite plastic normally reserved for bream and EPs – a hurricane sprat 75. To Rhys’ delight, Cassidy ended up catching THE fish of the day – this lovely dusky flathead. She was stoked with the capture, only too happy to gently release the beautiful fish back into the water after a few happy snaps. Rhys said it was a challenging yet satisfying day of fishing. He was proud Cassidy out-fished him and reckons he might need some lessons from his daughter next time. 😉 Nice work, Cas. 📸: rustyfisho #laketyers #duskyflathead #slotlimit

Perseverance Pays: Dusky Flathead are one of a long list of species that dislike sudden changes in their environment. So when this land locked expanse of water reopened to the ocean just a week ago, causing water levels to drop markedly and salinity levels to change, the Duskies began sulking. The clunkers I found basking in the sun should fire up again soon.
