On Indonesia’s Java Island, most forests below 1,000 meters have been cleared and converted into farmland, which is why the Zebra Woodpecker is considered globally endangered. The total world population is thought to be between one and two thousand individuals. However, recent thoughts share how rarely it is found and how difficult it is to document (since almost no forests remain) suggests the situation could be far more critical. I am happy to have contributed this sound and video recording to the scientific community. If old trees are spared from logging, they may still have a chance. By the way, its excitement at the occasional “trilili” call was because the sound came from the female bird, partner in drum! Hopefully, they will succeed in raising their chicks in the nest they have built. 😇 - DÜNYADA BİR İLKE İMZA ATTIK.
