JAHave you heard of an ECV??
It sounded WAY scarier than the actual procedure — but here’s my honest experience 💕
🌅 5:30am We arrived at the hospital sleepy-eyed and rather anxious. We were given a long list of risks and benefits, ultimately understanding we had a 50/50 chance at successfully flipping her. We were prepared for a delivery of any kind, and were given clear expectations of how my body could react to the meds.
👩⚕️ 7:00am Came a nurse switch and we were introduced to a gentle soul who responded well to my anxiousness, bringing me confidence and peace about the situation. Turns out her and her husband had actually looked into buying the house we now own and live in!
💉 7:30am It was time for the meds. To increase the chances of a successful flip, to lower the chances of me going into a panic attack, and to loosen my contracting muscles, it was time for a spinal tap and terbutaline. This part was scary, but my nurse held me and my anesthesiologist was simply the best!
🤢 7:45am I didn’t tolerate the spinal tap very well and my blood pressure dropped a few times. Again, scary, but everyone in the room was so calm and never left my side as they managed my drop outs, nausea, and uncontrollable shaking
🤰🏻 8:00am It didn’t take long to stabilize me and then it was time to flip. Less than 25 SECONDS later, with one SINGLE attempt, my baby girl flipped without any fuss!
😴 So it was time for me to rest! I was exhausted and of course couldn’t feel my legs for a few hours.
😖 12:00ish I woke up to cramping and contractions. If you’ve been following my journey, you know I’ve been contracting for WEEKS now. But this time, I had dilated to a 3!
🖥️ 3:30pm More monitoring, more checks, some food and ionized water later I was sent home with a flipped, happy baby and a body slowly but surly inching toward labor
🌿 Still on baby watch! Still contracting slowly. But thankful to do this part of labor safely at home with her head down ❤️
