EOHello everyone, have you ever wondered what it’s like to take part in the EOES? Let’s take a look at the European Olympiad of Experimental Sciences from last year!
In 2022, talented high school students from across Europe gathered to compete in the fields of biology, chemistry, and physics. Last year’s tasks were certainly challenging, but the participants amazed us with their skills and knowledge. The competition had two main themes. In Task 1, the students investigated the biopolymer hyaluronic acid, examining its lubricating effect and water-binding capacity, as well as its degradability. In Task 2, the central theme was DNA. The students demonstrated the presence of a beneficial mutation using gel electrophoresis. They also explored DHPA, a DNA-based viral inhibitor against herpes. The tasks were difficult, but the participants demonstrated exceptional talent and dedication.
Despite the pandemic challenges, the event was a resounding success, with inspiring performances and impressive achievements from all participants. It was also a unique opportunity for students to learn from one another, exchange ideas, and build connections across borders.
