MYDid you know how petrol and diesel are made from crude oil?
Crude oil is extracted from the ground and heated to about 370°C. It is then sent into a large pipe called a fractional distillation tower, where lighter molecules rise to the top and heavier ones stay at the bottom.
At the top, we get petroleum gas (LPG), followed by gasoline (petrol), then naphtha (used to make plastic), kerosene, diesel, fuel oil, lubricating oil, and finally bitumen at the bottom, which is used to build roads.
So many useful products from just one raw material — amazing, right?
