There are SO many sweet chestnuts this year! Well, there’s so many everything this year! It’s a mast year, which is an incredible phenomenon where fruit and nut bearing trees literally communicate via the mycelial network to produce enough nuts and seeds to overwhelm the squirrel population and birth future trees instead of just food! 😍🌲

ANYWAY back to chestnuts! They are such a gorgeous, traditional taste of autumn and winter! Perfect roasted and enjoyed whole but pretty incredible as an ingredient too! ✨
Chestnuts make great stuffings, soups and even sweet treats like this pear and chestnut tart I get excited about making every year! 🍄🟫🤎
