Most people do not know that tattoo pigments were originally industrial chemicals. And the cells permanently holding that ink in your dermis are fibroblasts, the exact cells responsible for synthesizing and remodeling the collagen that makes up your fascial matrix. When those cells are compromised, the tissue they are supposed to maintain is compromised with them.
Fascia is the system I build careers around. It is the connective tissue web that links every structure in the body and determines how force moves through an athlete. Anything that disrupts its integrity at the cellular level is worth knowing about.
I have tattoos. This is not an attack on the culture. Athletes love their ink and I get it.
I just think had I been aware of this information prior to getting tattooed, I might have made a different decision. So I am providing it for someone else in similar shoes.
