THI started using a #fieldnotes index edition to track @ferriswheelpress ink!
It’s a great way to index all the fun colors - and still keep snippets of the beautiful packaging.
I do sample the ink on lightweight paper that I glue in - to best see the ink. And I can write descriptions and thoughts on each entry.

Encounter Summary:
The dense, humid lowlands of Sumatra are a stronghold for species that seem to bridge the gap between animal and ancient earth. While tracking a group of forest elephants, I was joined by a local field scout who suddenly froze, pointing a trembling hand toward a slow-moving mound in the undergrowth. This is Testudo floramagnus, known by the local Lampung people as the "Walking Mountain." This behemoth is roughly the size of a small bike, possessing a massive, high-domed shell that is entirely encrusted in a thick, thriving layer of native moss and fern species.

The Walking Mountain is supported by four columnar, gray legs that move with agonizing slowness. As the scout cautiously gestured toward the creature's head, the movement triggered an incredible transformation. The creature halted, and a series of large, leathery nodules atop its mossy carapace began to pulse. With a sound like tearing parchment, they unfurled into massive, pale white blossoms with delicate yellow centers. This spectacular flowering is likely a mutualistic display; the creature provides a stable, nutrient-rich mobile platform for the flora, which in turn provides perfect camouflage against the dappled light of the jungle floor.

The people of Way Kambas revere the Walking Mountain as a vessel for the forest’s memory. Legend says that the creature only blooms when the island’s balance is stable, and its appearance is a mandate for the community to refrain from hunting for three full moons. To honor this, locals traditionally place small clusters of wild ginger at the base of trees marked by the creature’s heavy tracks. Watching the scout’s expression of pure, wide-eyed awe as the giant retreated back into the verdant shadows, I felt a deep connection to the ancient, slow-beating heart of this jungle.

Sadly, this notebook is no longer available on the Field Notes website. Some stationery retailers may still have it available but you’ll need to search for them. DEPutting the new Field Notes 1943 Edition straight to work. I needed a fresh brain dump book to finish out the year and these are spot on. The only real challenge was picking which orientation to run with.
The bright primary covers ended up pairing perfectly with my new stickers too… but more on those soon.
