Communicate!!
For us, that looks like a phone call every night at around 6:45pm. Just before bedtime so the kids can tell Dad about their day, then once they’re asleep, it’s our turn to catch up.
It’s not always perfect, sometimes there’s not much to say 😆. Sometimes it’s a quick hang up and call back. Sometimes it doesn’t happen at all — but that’s the exception, not the rule.
We don’t talk much during the day. But if I call, he knows it’s important — and 99% of the time, he answers.
He’s working his ass off on site. I’m working my ass off at home holding down the fort.
It’s a partnership. And we’re in it together.
