MYWeaning from the pacifier?
✂️Rather than the gradual snip, try my “It’s
broken, can’t fix it” method. It’s inexpensive and most successful with kids older than 18 months.
✨Begin by leaving a few broken items around the house, such as a pencil broken in half on the kitchen counter. Pick it up and show it to your toddler, saying, ‘Oh, it’s broken, can’t fixit,’ and throw it in the trash.
.✨After a week of introducing this concept, take the pacifier that is in the crib and snip off the entire part that goes in the mouth (NOT just the very tip) when your child is not there. Discard the entire tip. Put your child to bed a bit early that day, so that they aren’t too tired to encounter the broken pacifier. This is a bittersweet moment to capture on film 🎥💕…because your little one will likely hold up the pacifier and say “bwoken”. Give them a big hug and take the pacifier to the trash can to throw it away.”😘
.🤗Then, give your toddler another hug, put them in bed again. You can do it,
and so can your toddler.
🥰Pacifiers should be weaned as early as 6 months and no later than 12 months for optimal facial and palate development…but if you’ve got an older toddler it’s going to be ok! Now there’s an open comment period?�Now there’s a public meeting?�Now there are instructions on how to register and be heard?
What about when the proposal benefited them and clinicians were basically told to calm down?
But when another party submits an application?�Suddenly everyone is informed about how the process works.
You can’t have it both ways #asha.
If transparency matters, it matters ALL 👏 THE 👏 TIME 👏.�If clinician voices matter, they matter before votes are cast, not after, for EVERY proposal.
If you are interested, on March 6th, yes, you can follow the process, read the NEW proposal submitted to the AMA and make your voice heard about what it says.
It shouldn’t have taken private practice owners and Fix SLP to bring all of this to light. If you care about 92507, stay informed. We won't be sharing information only when it benefits us. We will share EVERYTHING.

FIWe’ve been trained to celebrate the CCCs, but what we should be celebrating is our license.
To legally practice as an SLP, we go through an accredited graduate program, complete supervised clinical hours, pass the Praxis, and maintain continuing education. The license is the real credential and it’s what actually protects the public and defines us as professionals.
The CCC? It’s optional in many states. It duplicates the exact same steps as licensure, but adds a $250/year price tag, and most of that doesn’t go towards not advocacy.
This video isn’t about tearing anything down, it’s about getting honest about what we’ve been taught to value and why. And asking: What if we shifted our energy to building a system that actually supports us?

FIWhat’s done is not done.
You may be hearing or reading that the changes to CPT 92507 are final and that we just have to wait until Medicare publishes rates this summer.
But that’s not how this process works.
Code structure decisions can be revisited. Proposals can be challenged. Revisions can be brought back to the table.
And starting tomorrow (3/6/26), there is a window where clinicians can speak up about how these changes would actually impact patient care, workflow, and access to services.
If you’ve been told or read online it’s over… it isn’t.
Real clinicians explaining how therapy actually happens is exactly what this process needs to hear.
We’re going to keep sharing what we learn so you can decide how you want to participate.
