CLCargo ships regularly travel through some of the roughest storms on Earth, yet they rarely sink. That’s because they’re built with multiple stabilization systems like bilge keels, anti-rolling tanks, and fin stabilizers that reduce how much the ship tilts in large waves. At the same time, the cargo itself is secured with heavy steel twist locks and rods that connect the containers directly to the ship’s structure. When everything is properly secured, these systems work together to keep massive vessels stable even in extreme ocean conditions.
