My new exhibition, Now the Stars Are Looking Back at Us at @future_gallery , analyzes a fundamental inversion of the human gaze. For most of history, tracking was an active way of looking at the world, a manual process of following stars, animals and seasons to survive. Today, that relationship has been radically re-engineered. Tracking has evolved from a visceral engagement with the environment into a global, automated architecture of extraction. The sky is no longer a map for human navigation, it is a high-altitude grid for the mass-observation of the human subject. The celestial bodies that once guided us have been replaced by an orbital blanket of human-made “stars”, a dense layer of satellites and sensors designed to look back, down, and through us. The traditional image of surveillance is the Panopticon popularized by Michel Foucault: a dark, central watchtower. Bray argues, however, that the contemporary “vertical gaze” of satellites and screens operates through the logic of a disco ball. It is a central, rotating object that captures the light of our data only to fragment, multiply, and scatter it back at us. This new Panopticon is seductive: it is shiny, rhythmic, and high-frequency. Yet, like the disco ball, it is also strategically blinding. By breaking reality into thousands of reflected facets, it prevents a cohesive view of the system itself. We are mesmerized by the “sparkle” of real-time connectivity, but this very brightness obscures the underlying machinery of control, leaving us unable to see the void of space or the clarity of the horizon. (The text is much longer but not really welcome here. I will make another post soon) The exhibition at @future_gallery in Berlin is open from Thursday to Saturday from 1 to 6pm for a month. BIOISM ONTO GALAXIES, RIDDLING SPACETIME INTO STELLAR LIFE By Aljoscha (@aljoscha.aljoscha ) “Life unfolds as a continuous process of transformation—fluid, interconnected, and in constant becoming. Moving beyond anthropocentric perspectives, these works propose a speculative ecology where new forms of existence emerge, shaped by bioethical imagination and the possibility of an aesthetic utopia.” Excerpt from the curatorial text by Paula Tomasini. On view until April 4th.

Quantum physics asks us to rethink our understanding of the world and our place within it. When I make work with, through, or alongside quantum science and technology, the questions that arise feel like thresholds of perception: does the abstract become tangible through art, or is quantum already tangible in its effects, and the artist’s role is to translate those effects into something we can feel? Science can be extraordinarily difficult to hold in language. An experience of it can be immediate. Art offers that: a way to sense something before you can fully explain it. As we develop new instruments of computation and measurement, the question is how we will perceive (and learn to perceive) differently. Light has long been both material and metaphor — a bridge between perception and technology 💡 At Intersect Palm Springs, this year’s programming explored how artists are using innovation to reshape sensory experience, a theme powerfully reflected in the work of Mads Christensen, presented by Timothy Yarger Fine Art. Trained as an electrical engineer in Denmark, Christensen creates immersive works where light becomes both medium and message. Custom software, precise engineering, and sculptural intuition converge to produce environments that unfold over time, inviting viewers to experience light not as illumination, but as presence. Working within a lineage that includes artists such as James Turrell, Doug Wheeler, Dan Flavin, and Olafur Eliasson, Christensen advances the evolution of light-based art through a distinctly contemporary lens — one grounded equally in technological fluency and emotional resonance. For Christensen, light is inseparable from time itself. Inspired by the rhythms of sunrise and sunset, his works translate universal, existential experiences into programmed luminosity, reminding viewers of our enduring connection to natural cycles even within increasingly digital spaces. Christensen’s practice exemplifies Intersect’s central theme: where art, light, and technology meet to shape how we see — and feel — the world around us. _ Timothy Yarger Fine Art Booth Installation at Intersect Palm Springs. Vortex Harmonies Arcangelo Constantini, 2025 Site-specific installation Art meets science to restore water quality. Vortex Harmonies is a kinetic, sonic sculpture that uses natural vortex movement to support water regeneration. The sculpture circulates water through spiralling motion patterns inspired by mathematics and nature. As it moves, it also generates sound, transforming invisible ecological processes into an immersive sensory experience. Artist Arcangelo Constantini combines vortex principles from inventor Viktor Schauberger with a bladeless turbine design inspired by Nikola Tesla’s work, referencing historical fringe technologies that explore unconventional methods for healing water. The structure of the piece is a score related to Nikola Tesla: “If you knew the magnificence of 3, 6, and 9, you would have the key to the universe.” It consists of nine hyperbolic funnels, nine base frequencies, a numerical pattern and its harmonics, with the intention of regeneration through vortexing. Arcangelo Constantini is an artistic inventor and pioneer of the Media Arts in Mexico. He challenges scientific and mystical paradigms, hacking functional and obsolete technologies to engage in philosophical dialogues and constructing experimental artefacts. This artwork is part of S+T+ARTS4WaterII, a European Commission programme that brings together artists, scientists, and local water authorities to address urgent water challenges through creative solutions. In Eindhoven, the project is organised by Waag Futurelab, curated by Maro Pebo in collaboration with Waterschap De Dommel Wetsus and PKS and with the kind support of the Van Abbemuseum. S+T+ARTS4WaterII is co-funded by the European Commission under grant agreement number LC-02629312.
