Andy Murray (2005–Present) — The British tennis professional physically attached his wedding ring to his tennis shoes during his matches because he found it uncomfortable to wear on his finger while gripping the racket. He started this practice shortly after getting married in 2015 and continued it throughout his career on the ATP Tour. This habit once led to a brief panic at a tournament in California when his shoes, which he had left outside to dry, were stolen along with the ring tied to the laces.
Medical interventions significantly altered his physical capabilities on the court after he underwent a hip resurfacing surgery in 2019. The procedure involved implanting a metal joint into his hip, and he became the first singles player to compete at the highest level of professional tennis with this type of prosthetic. He managed to return to the professional circuit and win a singles title in Antwerp later that same year, despite earlier predictions that the surgery would end his athletic career.
