Learn frog pose today! in three steps: 1. Knees inside elbows — get into a squat and walk your knees out wide, then place them on the outside of your elbows. your feet should be flat or on your toes, whatever feels more stable. 2. Claw the ground — spread your fingers wide and dig your fingertips into the floor. this is your base. practice pressing in with your fingers to prevent falling forward. 3. Lean onto your hands — shift your weight forward slowly onto your hands. keep your core tight and let your feet naturally come off the ground as your balance tips forward. Bonus: if you’re still working on it, rest your forehead on a block in front of you. It takes the fear out of falling and lets you focus on the position. #calisthenics #handstand #frogpose #bodyweightfitness #calisthenicstutorial

Frog pose… how do you feel about it? @finolaphysio and I are teaming up today to help you get safely deeper into your #frogpose. The flow I am showing is for strength. At first this may seem a little strange as frog pose is a stretch yeh?... However... you want this to be an active pose! So your #adductors and #hips need to be strong, so you don’t sink into the hips and pelvis and overstretch or strain the inner thigh muscles. To keep proper form you want to have strong external rotators and strength of the adductors essentrically as they are in a loaded position (you want control in the pose!). You also want to keep the integrity of the spine and shoulders too hence the sneaky #core at the end! Check out Fin’s post for more hints and tips and let us know how you get on. The reality of learning a new skill is that it can become frustrating. We often don’t see progress as quickly as we’d like, we fail and have to try again and again. Every new skill takes it’s time to master. But I think that’s what’s so cool about calisthenics and sports in general: there’s always something new to learn, something else to achieve.
