2EEveryone’s obsessed with FTP but most people misunderstand what it actually means
👉 FTP isn’t your fitness.
It’s just a marker, an estimate of how much power you can sustain for about an hour.
What it doesn’t tell you:
– How long you can hold that power
– How quickly you fatigue
– How well you recover between efforts
📖 Burnley & Jones (2018) showed that endurance performance depends just as much on durability, your ability to maintain power deep into fatigue, as it does on threshold itself.
👉 The Mistake:
Chasing a bigger FTP at all costs.
More isn’t always better, especially if your durability, aerobic base, and recovery can’t support it.
👉 The Fix:
– Build your base first (real Zone 2)
– Add strength training to improve fatigue resistance
– Focus on long intervals and aerobic capacity, not just 20-minute tests
FTP is a tool, not the goal.

JEFTP test ( functional threshold power )
This was my first hard effort after offseason and having covid. Haven't done any efforts in over two months.
I have been doing easy rides, xcskiing and weights at the gym. So it was time to do this test to know at what power to do my efforts again.
I did the basic 20min all out test. Started a bit to hard but ended up with a solid 363w for 20minutes. And an ftp of about 345w.
Not the best result a have done but still good and I know that the season is still far away and now its good to start doing some efforts! 😎

MAIndoor vs Outdoor FTP… adjust it! It matters!
Here are a few of the reasons why they differ indoors;
- Thermoregulation (less airflow, higher core temp, lower sustainable power)
- No micro-recoveries (constant load, no coasting or momentum)
- Momentum / ERG mode (lower inertia + ERG = higher torque demand every pedal stroke)
- Muscle recruitment (more static position, earlier local fatigue)
- Psychological load (higher RPE, less distraction)

SU🚴♀️ FTP TEST DAY!
Today I tackled A 20-minute FTP test:
⚡️Avg power: 225W
🧮 FTP (95%): 213W
🤓 That’s about 4.1 W/kg
In theory that’s what I should be able to hold for an hour… but let’s be real, I’d probably be crying on the floor halfway through 😂
I can’t decide what was more intense..smashing the test or editing over an hour of 360° footage afterwards. My eyes are now officially square from staring at the screen 😵💫 So if the watts don’t impress you, at least throw me a like and comment something nice for the editing grind! 🥹
This was my first ride filming with the DJI Osmo 360 + MIC3, and I’m blown away by the footage options and audio. It was super windy (you can tell from the 45 km/h 😋), but you can still hear me pretty clearly, right?? 😯
